More conference realignment news

Weird that the A10 would expand to 15 teams. Loyola is a good program, but I don’t think that cements them another bid most years. So maybe UMass is considering leaving?
Sucks that UTA is off the board. Would have liked to see them join CUSA. Hopefully we can still add Little Rock.

I hope not. We have no reason to add UMASS. I can see wanting a travel partner for Liberty but that’s still another 600 miles north east of them. UMass does have money so maybe they can get their athletic department turned around.
I would take UMass in all sports if they actually want to.

We've never played in a bus league. We're the most isolated fbs school not named Hawaii. This conference is in need of established fbs schools. We don't need anymore fcs call ups. We've always had long conference road trips and we always will.

And notice how the 3 independents are either playing body bag games or back to back FCS teams. Though I'm sure that definitely wouldn't have happened to us if CUSA had imploded.

Only 1 guy did. 0% chance UConn joins CUSA in football. I am not sure of UMass chances, but it’s definitely more realistic than UConn joining.
I'm not sure if CUSA will even expand any further. Next round of realignment I don't think any of our current members will be poached. We're truly a conference of unwanted schools. We can do fine with nine members going forward. Or if we want 10 we can be as selective as we want with that final spot.
UCONN and UMASS don't make since for football only I don't think. The only Indy that would make since would be Army and we're not getting them with the contract they already have. I'd prefer a FCS team that wants to be in all sports than UMass or UConn.
So I heard a birdie over here in Dallas say CUSA Commish may be attending E. Kentucky vs Jacksonville St. game this week... That's quite interesting if true. E. Kentucky is my second choice behind Kennesaw St. as far as adding one more FCS school goes. I know that E. Kentucky is apparently backed by President and Alumni to make the move to FBS and has made aggressive entrance fee offers to Sun Belt, but got turned away. With W. Kentucky staying I'm still of the mindset that's it's not a matter of if it's a matter of when.
At least their football and basketball stadiums are FBS size. Their teams aren't that bad either.
With the game at EKU she is likely looking to invite them. Most casual fans that don't live in that area wouldn't likely know the difference between EKU and WKU so when WKU leaves, no one will care.
How do you think the divisions end up? I assume we'll go to a north and south split.

Adding EKU really screws over the 3 loyal schools in favor of the one who's begging the MAC to take them.
I rather stay at 9 or hope we could add Missouri St instead.

E. Kentucky is actually pretty close to Liberty and would make a good travel partner for them. They are also rivals in basketball and football when Liberty was FCS. It'd probably be more of a travel partner situation not south east and west or north and south if they go 10.
I think it would be easier if Liberty didn't have a travel partner. One trip over there and back. Instead of going to Lynchburg then getting on a bus for 7hrs to Richmond or flying into Lexington and then bussing to Richmond.
I don't think CUSA is stopping at 10. My gut feeling is they are going to 12 and if EKU is added to the east, that's 6 for them. 2 more would be added to the west and I haven't a clue who those schools would be but McNeese St, SFA, Tarleton St have all been mentioned as possibilities in the recent past.
Such a shame. I'm back on the fire Judy train if that happens. We could split the college playoffs money 9-10 ways or add two more schools that aren't ready for FBS to further dilute our share of the pie. In the process weaken our basketball league that's looking kind of strong right now. Hopefully if we go to 12 we're adding the Dakota schools. Please no those other 3 "west" schools.
I don’t see CUSA expanding to 10 or 12 unless they can find someone who adds real value or whatever TV partner they’re having is requiring a football championship game. Makes no sense to go to 10 or more if nobody wants to pay the conference for a championship game.
We also don't need 10 for a championship game. With 9 members we can have a round robin schedule and send the top two teams to the CUSA championship game.
I guarantee you FIU and or MTSU will be the first team(s) to be picked up by the AAC during the next wave of realignment.
That's what FIU would like for you to believe.
So that would mean that the AAC goes from previous C-USA v1 to previous C-USA v2? I mean, aren't all but 2 of the "new" AAC teams C-USA teams? They just need to take the C-USA name. That's all that's missing for the "new" AAC.
