As a mathematician I should have recognized the numerical pattern that Golding is trying to reproduce. Last year he had a late season run where he lost five straight games. He followed that by winning the next five games. Unfortunately for Golding he started the winning streak too early: he had three games left in the regular season when he started reversing his five game game losing streak, leaving him one win short of making the NCAA Tournament.
This year he has a seven game losing streak, and he stretched it to end the season. Now when he follows last year's numerical pattern, his seven game winning streak will carry us to the Elite 8. Brilliant move. The only is that he should have began the losing streak three games earlier in order to bring us a 2nd natty. Still, no plan is perfect.
