If it’s basketball only I definitely think it’s should be strong basketball programs. UC Davis is still weird for me. It’s obviously MWC is trying to be a better football league with picking up N. Illinois and I think they still pitch for N. Dakota St. however not sure if they wish to go FBS. If it is Utah Valley and St. Mary’s for Basketball that’s not awful at all.

Was it confirmed that UTEP would be getting a full share of the MWC TV revenue? I assumed they would, but now I'm not sure if that was explicitly stated. On top of that, UTEP blocked the release of the agreement citing a potential "competitive disadvantage", so that also got me wondering.
Well if there was a way to mess it up, I'm sure UTEP did.

2 bid league most years and when Nevada is good sometimes 3. 1 step above CUSA, but not by much. Better travel and schools Utep fans knows though for the most part.
Are you sure about this? MW finished 6th. CUSA 8th. MW is losing some of their top programs while replacing it with one of CUSA worst programs. They’ll be even if that.

Most years UNM is a NCAA team, Nevada had a down year and has made the NCAA quite a bit recently, UNLV is committing money to being much better, Grand Canyon is doing the same and has been consistent. You’re probably right 3 is too optimistic, but 2 is realistic and no it won’t be worse than CUSA. CUSA had a really good year this past year and that why the highest the conference was rated in a while and still got one bid. Also I wouldn’t say Utep was one of its worst. They crashed and burned and lost close games on the 7 game losing streak and we as Miner fans are obviously upset, but no one outside of Utep in CUSA saw Utep as one of the worst or an easy win that’s just ridiculous. Every game except for one on the losing streak and then the Quarter final game Utep led late in the game, to say Utep was one of the worst is irresponsible and just being a bitter Miner fan. This team totally floundered and fell far below their potential yes, but the 7-11 conference record was more of an internal struggle within the team and coaching not talent. Now next year there’s a good chance we will be one of if not the worst and not competitive. Either way I think a two bid league at best is probably more accurate.

I’m just going off the standings here. Over the last three years, we’ve finished 9th out of 11 and 8th out of 10. To me that suggests we’ve been one of the lower tier programs in the conference.

Yeah we have sucked in conference record wise that’s the harsh truth. Unless there’s a drastic improvement or coaching change that won’t change in MWC. My basis for 2 bids is definitely not because of our addition that’s for sure!

I really don't think CUSA was a top ten conference. Liberty was the only consistently good program, OOC and in conference. The rest were meh and beat up on each other throughout the conference schedule.

The MWC is top 10, arguably top 5, though and will be top 10 even after SDSU, Boise, Utah State and Fresno leave. UNM will be a tournament team most years whether they win the conference or not. GCU should be competitive enough to warrant potential at large looks, along with UNLV and Nevada. Wyoming has had some strong seasons. If the MWC adds Saint Mary's, its for sure a two bid league and possibly 3.

The issue is not the conference. It is definitely an upgrade for UTEP. The issue is that it is a better conference and we finished 9th and 8th in a crappy one. We have the same coach, which either knows he is a lame duck, or was given a 3 year extension that was not publicly announced because the Athletic Director would be thrown out on his ear in any normal world. (well it's UTEP so he would probably be given a 3 yr extension as well).

If Bronzing was given the extension, we will win less than 10 games every year in the MWC till he is gone. If he is gone after this year, his only incentive is to try and build a team to win CUSA (which he can't because he has never proven he can) to try and get an extension, then get pummeled in the MWC with an undermanned terribly prepared team.

The smartest thing UTEP could have done was get rid of him now, and have a coach that is preparing for the move. Bronzing is going to bury us so deep that this team will take forever to recover. We will be a permanent bottom dweller for years to come.

If you look at it rationally, this is quite depressing. There is no good way to look at this besides the fact that we are in a much better conference, but so badly prepared for it, that the basketball team is going to be at its lowest at any point that I can ever remember in the last 50 years or so. Of course, Bronzing, Senter and Wilson have led us to this nadir, but this is not the lowest its going to get. That is the most depressing part of this whole thing.

Oh for sure. With Golding, we will be a bottom dweller in the new MWC.

The only the only part I’ll disagree with is this. No team is buried where they can’t recover. This new era is based on NIL and recruiting. So if let’s say Golding is fired next year and a new coach comes in that can recruit and NIL dollars keep rising then Utep can absolutely compete! It doesn’t take years of building anymore. The issue is no one trusts Senter to hire the right coach, so until he’s gone it probably won’t matter and we will be at the bottom as you mentioned.

I agree with you, Senter should have terminated Golding’s contract at the end of the season if not before. Show some ambition and rip the band aid off.

The good thing is if you bring in the right guy basketball can turn around quickly. Rosters only go 8-9 deep, 2 or 3 really good players can make an amazing difference unlike football.

What are UTEP's NIL dollars compared to the other MWC teams they will be competing with? Where do they rank in there?

Asking because I don't know and still trying to figure out how we are going to compete.

I suggest look at recruiting team rankings. The ones on top are the ones with the most money the ones in the bottom have less. Like for instance Sac St football is ranked 35th in team rankings. There was rumors that Sac St is willing to spend lots of money . Have you seen what BYU has done in Basketball recruiting? I think Utep is probably in the middle of the pack in MWC.
