Okay post coaching candidate ideas

okay i will jump on firing tim floyd bandwagon. This is always fun looking for a new coach.

My candidates would be

Dan Majerle: Grand Canyon HC

Tim Jankovich assistant at SMU

I thought Floyd should have been gone after last season. Season number 5, but he is still here. So, how many years does the next coach get to build a conference contender? I'll bet it's not 6 like Floyd. Probably not even 5.

His first year the team was 15-15, second year 17-15 and now his 3rd year (not his 6th) they are 19-2 with wins over NMSU, Houston, San Diego St and Marshall. The 2 losses were to Neb-Omaha by 4 in OT and they were clobbered by Louisville on the road.
 
Bob Marlin, hard nosed coach who knows his basketball very well. And no, I don't believe Stull would balk at firing Floyd at this point, or if the season continues to go south. By all accounts, it will continue. If anything, I believe they will work something out and move on. This ship needs to be righted.

Who Cares! It's not happening right now,Floyd is the Coach til at the very least the end of the year and probably next year. These are pointless pipe dreams until he's fired or retires!
 
Floyd Signed a contract extension in 2013. He's only 2.5-3 years into that. Unless he retires or Stull comes up with 1.5 mil. He's ours for the time being.
 
If greg foster was head coach. Wouldnt he hire tim floyd as an assistant??
 
Start fresh - no retreads or ressurected stars of the past or rehabilitated returning contrite souls. Get a coach with ties to AAU coaching pipelines from any region of the country that has good High School BB &/or JC game. And if UTEP's is viewed as only a stepping stone - so be it.

Man I was still in school when Billy G was our coach and let me tell you that that is a big part of what made my generation UTEP fans. I wish he never left. If he was named the head coach some day I would be ok with that.

I'd go with this guy. Sure, he probably doesn't have any coaching experience. But, he's hungry (literally). He'd probably work for peanuts (literally). And, he could probably get the same results that we're getting right now.

Yes sir I was. I along with a lot of other folks didn't think he would leave but he did. He was a hot an upcoming coach. I hate the fact that anytime there is a coaching vacancy at another school CTF is on the list and he won't even give us lip service saying he won't go. I was among the most exited to see CTF here but sad to see how little he cares.

Floyd cares, but it's ego-driven.

In other words, deep down he's more angry about how badly HE looks right now than he is upset about the poor job he's doing for UTEP right now.

Doesn't matter. A school can reassign a coach and move on without firing and making a big payment. He could be demoted by Stull to some other title in the athletic dept, say assistant in charge of ball inflation. Maybe the school can't reduce his base pay but he certainly would not get any perks either. Put one of the assistants in charge for the rest of the season and then see if Floyd stays as the one in charge of ball inflation or is humble enough to resign and save UTEP some money.

Let's dig up Haskins, hire a couple of people to hold him up at the games, hire a third person to roll up some paper for him to hold and hope for the best.
 
Funny. After all these years, many still can't spell his name correctly. G-i-l-l-i-s-p-i-e.
