Okay post coaching candidate ideas

Crazy suggestion, Marvin Menzies. Its a bit of a lateral move and can you imagine the hatred he would get in Las Cruces! However, Menzies would receive about a 20-30% pay raise and wouldn't have to move his family. UTEP would get a coach who can bring recruits to the region, keep them for more than a year, and coach modern basketball.

TX A&M MBB assistant Rick Stansbury, former head coach at MS State. This message board's favorite writer Dan Wolken brought it up if the Memphis job opens up.

I'd go with this guy. Sure, he probably doesn't have any coaching experience. But, he's hungry (literally). He'd probably work for peanuts (literally). And, he could probably get the same results that we're getting right now.

I keep telling you guys, Billy G. is not the answer to our problems.

He was when he was here, he went from I believe six wins in his first season to a winning record on the next one and an NCAA appearance that almost upset Maryland. Numbers are what matters the most. Then he made a tremendous job at Texas A& M by taking them to the sweet 16. That's the way I see it.

Billy G ain't the same guy he was when he was here. His last two stops KU and Tech were horrific meltdowns, not the kind where you have a few issues to clear up, but complete. Look there are a lot of coaches who suffer problems and bounce back, there are even a few who can do their job despite the problems. Billy G is not either of those, he had his 2nd chance at Tech and didn't make it a year. He is a good coach and I really like his style of play, but his problem is tied to what he does, he can't handle the pressure which comes with the job, winning, social etc. His history as major college coach is complete.

He made a huge mistake by leaving Texas A&M for Kentucky. For the Kentucky job a coach has to have a sort of Sir or Lord profile status for the job, a coach is gotta be top high jetset social, popular, has to have this and that and they require a National Tittle almost every other season. The Kentucky job was not for him, he is a humble type person. He should have stayed at A&M and maybe later go somewhere were he would fit. Still I am convinced he would do a far better job here then what Floyd has accomplished which is nothing.
