OT Keith Frazier to UNT

UNT's current players are more athletic looking than our players. I would not doubt it if they beat us at their place. This is a huge pick up for them.

Do any Miner fans remember SDSU in the late 80's (and I think early 90's), Coach Brandenburg and/or Fuller who brought in one or two All-American's and some other SoCal top players? SDSU played in their old high school gym that Haskins even complained about. They didn't accomplish much and were never serious WAC contenders at that time.

A lot has changed since then but my point is that it's the coach that brings out the best in any player no matter their rank or not recruited by anyone. Antonio Davis was dedicated to swimming when he was at Oakland who just also happened to play for his varsity HS bball team. Floyd saw him and the rest was history. (at least that's the story I read many moons ago). BG inherited all stars at Kentucky and look how that turned out?

Benford sucks. There are way worst teams than UNT this year at the D1 level, however, it's guys and programs like Benford that keep CUSA a one bid league.

Didn't we lose to Norfolk St? How does that help CUSA ? Do you think the Miners are helping Conference USA this year?

A 5 star being picked up by any team in the conference, hopefully is going to help that team. Maybe pick up some wins it normally wouldn't. I don't see how Frazier going to unt is anything but a positive for them or the conference. Now will he be coached up by Benford? I really don't care. Are we helping the conference this year? Don't understand why that question is being asked at this point, and what that has to do with Frazier, but obviously no, at this point. For that matter, no team is really making cusa stand out right now. Let's see where things are around mid February.

The coaches make the positive for the conference, not the players. Rhoades at Rice, at this time, has players that are not even suited to play major college basketball. He has one, maybe two, that can play at a higher level. But you know what, he bring out he best in all of them. La Tech transitioned to a new coach and they're still at the top of the league despite loosing "Speedy" their all CUSA pg. That's not the players, that's a good coach who left behind a solid team for the next coach who comes in; just like Barbee did for Floyd. Benford is not one of those coaches and at this point, neither is Floyd.

What are the odds on Frazier playing any games at UNT? 50-50?

I think 100%. He could have transferred to a number of big time programs but chose UNT. Plus his NBA draft prospects would be zero if he doesn't play for a year and a half.

I see the point you're making regarding coaching. Mine is strictly about a 5 star, a visible 5 star at that, signing with a team in this conference. That's it. What happens when he becomes eligible and competes, we'll see. At this point, I see it as a positive. Just my opinion.
