Now that the Miners have been officially eliminated, and so that we can keep a dialogue going, this thread has been created for any and all tournament talk. We should be very used to this scenario at this point. 15 years? Meh, that's but the blink of an eye in the expanse of eternity. Ain't that some boolsh!t!

Go Houston Coogs! My new fav for now. LOL!

Many of the SEC schools will get quickly eliminated. There OOC schedules are atrocious.

Hopefully SDSU without its starting Center can beat North Carolina. With him, they win easily, without, it will be much tougher as the backup is a much softer guy.

I will break down the SEC later.

In other news, 15-19 San Jose St makes the NIT field! They’re also hosting 22-10 Loyola Chicago too. Wild

My bets..............mid major winners

Marquette v UNM...UNM
Memphis v CSU.......CSU
St Mary's v Vandy.....St.MU

It really does suck. Years ago you could play both tournaments as the NCAA tournament and NIT were played at different times. I believe there is only 1 team in history that won both. (CCNY)

The winner of the NIT used to be regarded as the real national champion years ago. Secondly, I read that in the 40's they used to pit the NCAA champ against the NIT champ during the war.

Then the NCAA of course prohibited playing in both tournaments in the 50's. Then followed it up in the 70's where if you were offered a bid to the NCAA's and did not accept it you were banned from playing in any postseason, so you could not go to the NIT either.

It sucks because this used to be a great tournament. I just don't see it going on for much longer.

The Crown ended up taking a bunch of crappy teams. DePaul? Colorado? Arizona St.? These are all awful teams that would never have been invited to the NIT in prior years.

In the Big Ten, Indiana, Ohio State, Northwestern, Iowa, and Rutgers all announced beforehand that they would not be playing in the Crown. I assume the Big 12 and Big East were similar, which is why the Crown ended up with the teams mentioned above.

As a result, I think the Crown watered down both tournaments so that the actual good remaining teams didn't want to participate in either tournament. The timing of the Crown conflicts with the transfer portal, so many of the teams that declined an invitation expressed concerns that they wouldn't have enough bodies to participate.
