Because Dimel rather hire his old buddies. Instead of the OC/QB package that he saw with his own eyes score at will on his team. Anyone with common sense suggested we go after them last season. Here we are struggling to score 20 points per game.
Kittley and Zappe were the OC and QB at HBU. The team that almost beat us in 2019. We were asking for Kittley as our OC cuz everyone knew Zappe would follow him. The two Texas products ended up in the hills of Kentucky instead of West Texas.
Wouldn’t have mattered if we’d gotten both of them because Dimel is never giving up calling the plays.
Wasn't just Zappe and coach they imported, 3 WR's from HBU as well. Zappe is a good college QB but he plays in a system that is designed for him and played in for 4 years+. You see the fruits of 4 years of hard work, not a one season miracle coaching job. Don't know what it is about these kind of teams but they also often come with a crappy defense and can't stop anyone.
We're good. Looking for Hardison to make a big jump next season.
