Meanwhile a PG from EP is running the #2 team in the nation at UCONN and another is leaving for #3 Arizona.Golding & company recruited all these guards, and Utep still doesnt have pg.
To be fair, Zig Ziglar couldn’t have sold UTEP to either of those guys.
Why do only 2% succeed and 98% don't? Or something like that.
Was that a Zig quote? I just remember his cheesy sales infomercials in the early to mid 80s.
Speaking of UCONN, a shooter like Joey Calcaterra, who Golding brought in for a visit, would have been a nice fit on this team. Neither Newton or Lewis were legit options, but there were some other guys that Golding got close on but missed. He has to be able to seal the deal.
I blame Newton on Rodney Terry (wasn’t he the coach then). I believe that was a big whiff on his part.
Givance has not been bad this season. it seems like he’s finally turning the corner scoring and being aggressive. The turnovers were bad yesterday, but that was not just on him.
You are correct. Terry did not show interest in the Newton brothers. Tristen was an all state player and led the state of Texas in scoring his senior year.
