Refresh my memory

Wearing throwback uniforms has become a big deal lately, we are just taking this throwback thing to a different level with Coaches.

Everybody should just relax, this is just a temporary thing. The coordinators will now be able to do their jobs without the added duties and Price can handle the press duties. I would rather have Price deal with the media each week if we have a winless season, rather than having poor Natking or Mason having to brunt that each week. Price has the personality to come in as an outsider, handle that part of it, and free up the assistants to stay on their job. It is not like Price is going to start calling plays.

We’ll finally have chrome helmets in 2020!

Media is already focusing on Floyd’s dumbass comment! What a time to be alive!

we fired him cause he created a dumpster fire, and Kugs had rebuild from scratch right! My God, we are going to get roasted by the national media..

He’s not here building a program. He’s a stop gap and if anything will generate a little excitement in a season that desperately needs it.

What do you think would be better? Promoting an OC that’s been on the job for a couple of weeks or The DC that’s managing the worst defense in the country? At least with MP you get some buzz in the community and someone that is a great ambassador for the city.

All the people upset by this need to stop crying. It’s a 2 month assignment. That’s it. Get over it.

Price better call plays!

Who is crying? I think the only concern is if this foreshadows Eric Price as the next HC.

I would bet something got crushed by Kugler when he first got word CMP was taking over the ship.

I'm not sure what "excitement" all the Price supporters are talking about. I guess they only remember the 1st 2 years of his tenure. I remember getting blasted in the 2nd bowl game. I remember the 2nd half of year 4, when he had an absolutely loaded team on offense but they didn't win a single game after the crushing loss at home to East Carolina? No defense. You remember??? I remember the next 3 years after that and the dumpster fire that led to his 'retirement'. I remember all the late season collapses and excuses by Price.

I can't wait til this program can stop sniffing its own ass and move forward. UTEP and El Paso are just begging for athletic leadership and innovation from its president and AD.

It generates a buzz. All the local stations were talking about this positively and not about how terrible the program is right now. The average fan and even several of us remember the Price era more fondly than we remember the Kugler era. Obviously there were problems, but Kugler has left a team that with him is on pace to go 0-12. Sorry but that’s as bad as it gets.

With MP this programs gets a coach that can steer the sinking ship for 2 months and it has people talking UTEP football again around the community. No one is expecting any magic, but seriously, it’s a better move than promoting some god awful coordinators.

Someone mentioned national media. My question is what national media. How long has it been since anyone mentioned UTEP?

Look up the national CFB writers on twitter, they were laughing their asses off ..
Who cares what CFB writers say. Some people make it seem like we just hired Price as our next coach. Mason didn't even want the job and said he isn't looking ti build his resume anymore. Why put someone there who doesn't want to do it. Natkin is still learning how to crawl as on OC and is very inexperienced. As coach, he now has to run the entire team and deal with the media with very little experience. He will be thrown to the wolves. Dealing with the media when your team is winless is brutal. With the AD search going on, Stulls retirement , and a winless football team, the football program needs someone just to plug in there for the rest of the season. Price is perfect for it. He has HC experience and he is great at dealing with the media. Stull and Natalicio don't have to worry about the football team for the rest of the season now. The season is over, who really cares who the coach is right now.

Price was hired to motivate and inspire. That is all. The offense won't be too influenced by him. As far as Natkin and Mason, maybe they should have won a couple of games to be able to sneak into a head coaching job.

He also needs to put together the game plan, manage the game, and handle the media. I'd be surprised and disappointed if he doesn't get very hands on with the offense. Why the hell wouldn't he?

Game plan? How about tackling and catching passes. There, I just did the game plan for the rest of the year.

Didnt Price retire ? I dont think he was fired.

He was forced to retire so as to avoid an ugly exit. He was in the last year of his contract and he said after the win at USM that he would like to keep coaching but that he knew he wasn't helping UTEP sell tickets anymore.

His last year was his worst record wise at 3-9 but look at the teams he was playing and competing well against. Oklahoma, at Wisconsin, at Ole Miss and a tougher C-USA. He was a much better head coach than Kugler ever thought of being. I'll never understand why Stull subjected UTEP to an unproven coach with an offense like that.

Still, a very stupid move. I don't care what you Price supporters say. You guys probably never wanted him to leave in the first place.

We need a new AD asap.....stop this nonsense

Think you just need to look at the situation that they hired a mouthpiece for the program to talk to the media and sell a few extra tickets versus throwing a coordinator to the wolves.

Even if you 100% hate and despise the move, it's not like he's locked into a 5 year deal. He's done in 2 months. It'll be over quick.

And brotha, you need to realize his son could very well be our next coach....THAT'S the issue.

And I have a question....how much is he getting paid, cuz he sho aint free

Probably a lot less than whatever Kugler was making. He's coaching 7 games and employed for 2-3 months.

I also doubt Eric Price becomes football coach. The new AD is likely going to make the hire, and I can't see them going with a former OC from a bad Tulane program, especially if bigger fish like Sonny Dykes are out there.

Where do you all get the ideal that Eric is going to be the next head coach. Doubt if the boosters want this, and we don't have a AD. That person will have a lot of input on the new coach.

Thanks! At least I have the lead!

Just FYI, while being totally engulfed in the rants on twitter, I have noticed waaaaaaaayyyyy more people with the same mindset on this topic that I have than what this board has. Doesn't mean I am right, just that I might NOT be the entire dumbass you think I am. :) JS

We, as Miner fans, tend to justify our own stupidity. I, for example, was SCREAMING for Floyd's head last year. Now I am thinking "this is our year". wtf logic is that? Typical Miner fan....
