Scrimmage posts.

There's about 400 fans here. I counted. Local kid Isaiah rhyanes on roster. An athletic new guard Corbin on roster.

Magee and ...Osbourne handling Pont for respective teams. Osbourne looks good. Thomas with 7 early points. Frazier trying to assert himsel

Orange team with Osbourne, Thomas, Harris, flagged, Wilma is dominating.

They all look in much better shape. Frazier looks good for white team. Wade hits 2 there's, Thomas n Frazier ether baskets. Thomas with a driving dunk. Has about 12 already.

Frazier n wade keeping white team close. Kf has about 12. Wade about 9. Orange team looks composed n Corbin Stevens with a driving dunk now a 3. Tie game.

Team looks more attractive athletic than last year.
Even without Jones I believe they have enough talent to have a great year. Frailer and Osboure look good. Wade looks great.

Looks like Wade will be a good player. I hope he starts over Flaggert.

Questions for those in the know and/or those who attended the game...
1) Noticed Omega played big minutes, but only took five (5) shots. Since he is our no. 1 scorer; do you feel that Floyd just wanted others to have the chance to show their stuff while he is a proven commodity?
2) Based on what was displayed, who do you see running the point. If you go with Gilyard and/or McGee, I feel you are keeping a more talented option off the floor. Hard to see them playing while Harris, Wade, Osborne or Frazier, etc are sitting. On the other hand, this provides more depth with scoring and talent coming off the bench. You don't necessarily want your best five on the floor all at once.

Orange Team: Omega, Wilms, Thomas, Osbourne, Flaggert, Gilyard, and others.
White Team: Wade, Frazier, Tirus Smith, Kobe Magee, Touchet, Highler, Corbin Stephens, and others.
Here are my thoughts on what I saw from each player:
Omega was, to me holding back. Maybe wanted to give opportunities to the new guys. But when he did do his thing, he was impressive, very quick but seemed more under control. Had a great block on a break away layup from the White team.
Wilms was dominant. He didn't play much, but when he was in there he made an obvious difference. Tirus Smith had a tough time with him.
Thomas was the best player on the floor. He has a very good handle. Had good drives to the basket and finished well. Has three point range to go with his mid-range game. I was very impressed!
Osbourne is very athletic. Had good drives and finishes well. Has deep three point range.
Flaggert also held back but did hit the go ahead three with about fifteen seconds left.
Gilyard did much better than the first scrimmage. He hit some outside shots, but what impressed me most was his ability to drive and dish to teammates under the basket.
Wade was probably the second best player on the floor behind Thomas. Has a good outside shot and is athletic.
I kept a close eye on Frazier because of his knees. He looked okay to me. He has a good outside shot and made plays for his teammates. I asked him afterwards how his knees were and he said okay and thanked us for coming out. He and Wade kept the White Team in the game.
Tirus will be really good just needs to work on conditioning. He got winded often. His outside shot wasn't falling but had some good shots down low and had an awesome dunk.
Magee did a good job running the White Team but nothing spectacular.
Touchet didn't do much either but maybe holding back as well?
Stephens looks pretty good. He won't play this year but will provide some help next year.
Highler, although a walk-on, has some talent. He can play and is under control.
Other observations from the game. Floyd was coaching the White Team and after the Orange made a basket the White was dribbling down court and he called the White Team over without calling a timeout. Phil Johnson, coaching the Orange, tried to get his team to continue playing but the refs stopped play.
On one occasion, Gilyard made a great play driving to the basket and Floyd yelled to his team "who is guarding Gilyard"? Gilyard shouted out "nobody coach"! We got a kick out of that.
I already mentioned Flaggert's three to win the game but the White had a chance at the end. I believe it was Tirus had a put back that went in but was determined didn't count (not sure about that).
The Orange Team jumped out to big lead to start the game but the White Team chipped away and eventually took the lead and it was close the rest of the way.
I thought the Orange Team was going to win easily but the White Team really competed.
It was a fun event, although really wish they would have the three point contest and the dunk contest.

I just posted some of my observations. I do think Omega held back to allow the others to show their stuff. If Gilyard isn't the starting point guard, I can see Omega, Osbourne, or even Frazier running the point.

I just saw the video replay of the last shot and it should have counted, unless you follow the actual rules of the game, Tirus grabbed the rim prior to tipping the ball in. It would have been ruled basket interference.

Another funny thing after the Gilyard incident when he yelled "nobody is guarding me coach". Floyd had called a timeout and after the timeout, fans started shouting out "I got you Gilyard"!

Another one where Floyd was at mid-court while the game was going on, Johnson was calling for a technical since Floyd was out of the coaching box.

Has Coach Floyd kicked Gilyard out of the team for conduct detrimental to the team yet?

Yes, I noted that in my post above. We got a big kick out of that.

Where did you see a replay?

Dude!!! Great analysis and thanks for sharing the player by player breakdown. Sounds promising...despite the Jones news. Very glad to hear Gilyard impressed.
