It’s been 15 years since we’ve been to the NCAA tournament. Are expectations considered grandiose to expect at least one trip back to the dance since then?
Miners last “good” team was the 2014-15 team that made the NIT. They weren’t even sniffing the NCAA Tournament that year either. The fans are the best thing about this program.

He keeps putting Bynum in the doghouse. Terrell has been getting consistent minutes all season.
Bynum did have a bad first half this game, but we needed some outside shooting in the 2nd half to open things up. I'm baffled by Golding's game plan in the 2nd half.
I don’t think anyone can come in here and build a Championship Program that competes for a title year after year. That’s what I mean by grandiose expectations. We aren’t that place anymore and I think a lot of people still think we are.
When UTEP hires its next coach, it needs to be a guy that can win Today and maybe a gimmick hire. Someone that doesn’t want to be here so bad that he wins right away

Tim Floyd, Rodney Terry, and Joe Golding, have all tried. Maybe we keep making similar hires and expect different results
To compete with the Mountain West level coaches - Richard Pitino Steve Alford we need to pursue and hire the same level head coach along with a staff that matches theirs.
Floyd took the UTEP job in my opinion as an arrogant big time coach who thought he could come in here in a conference he thought was below him and automatically win. Again in my opinion he was never engaged the way he was was at Iowa State and USC and it showed. I don’t necessarily blame Stull he probably thought 60% of Floyd was better than what he could hire.
Rodney Terry was on his way out at Fresno and we threw him a lifeline. Lazy hire we could have done better.
Golding D2 coach that won an NCAA game Senter let some past UTEP coaches do the work for him and pick the coach again very very lazy. I respect coach Golding but do I think he can take us into the MW and be competitive no.
My point is times have changed new conference new money don’t be pessimistic we can can match and surpass Albuqurque in everything they do players coaches attendance and pride we just need the boys ponying up the money to get Senter on board or out and quick no time to lose.

So stay the course with a coach that obviously doesn't have what it takes? Because we have sucked for the last 15 years, we should keep sucking?
Are you sure about that? I don't remember Terry being on the hot seat at Fresno. He had some good teams (good players) there.
We need to turn back into a serious basketball program again and having an athletic director that comes to basketball games looking like a circus clown and a president that shows up but looks like she doesn’t know the difference between basketball and pickle ball is a huge problem. I’m sure Golding is reading the threads and saying the same thing.
A good AD would have seen the huge potential in Joe Golding and put up the money for an experienced assistant someone like Doc Sadler an X’s and O’s genius to mentor and develop his talent.
We need to wipe the slate clean a move forward we can be a consistent MW top tier program but we really have to step it up and we can.

Was it less money? UTEP pays well for the basketball coach. The football team is where ITEP skimps out.

It wasn't less. He was making $600,000 at Fresno State and over $700,000 at UTEP.
The problem isn't that Golding has huge potential but doesn’t have a Doc Sadler type for an assistant. The problem is Joe Golding.
It is true. Terry even mentioned that fans didn't appreciate what he built over there once or twice.
I know we don’t have flashy names in the conference but why do you say it’s a bad conference? I have seen conference comparisons where conference USA is rated as high as 8 and as low as 13 but there are 33 or so conference so that’s definitely not a bad conference… an average one maybe but not a bad one
CUSA has been a one bid league for over a decade (even when Memphis was a member) and would be a zero bid league many years if not for the auto bid.
CUSA only has one top 100 team this year and Liberty stands no chance at getting an at large. The highest strength of schedule in the conference? SHSU. The parity of the conference this year isn't because the teams are good and equal. More like, they are all mediocre and equal with maybe Liberty being the tallest midget.
Bottom line- Wilson doesn’t give a damn about Athletics, Senter was a terrible hire, Golding is a D2 coach, Adam’s was a lazy hire. Senter looks at second of time and that burns in his memory. What did Golding, Adam’s, Dimel do over the entirety of the careers to deserve being UTEP’S head coaches?
Sadler was a terrible recruiter, but a great X and O's guy. He won with the previous recruits, but could not recruit himself. So, what he is saying is plausible that Sadler is a great assistant, just not a good head coach.
Can one argue that Bronzing is a good recruiter but a bad head coach? So the pairing would be well made as he says.
I guess it's comparable to all the great Cowboys assistant coaches under Jimmy Johnson that went on to be head coaches and failed. Wannstedt (great Defensive Coord), Campo (Great Special Teams), Norv Turner (Off Coord) and one could talk about Wade Phillips who was a fantastic Def Coord but a terrible head coach.
