No he still was. He’s the reason the program grew stagnant and fans accepted mediocrity. He kept Price and Floyd around when they would have been shown the door at other schools. He also hired Kugler.Maybe Stull wasn’t as bad as everyone thought.

It's really sad when that website and ordering for NIL merch has been up for a few months (remember looking at it in Dec for a gift) and just NOW they post it on social media.

Kugler didn't give us Aaron Jones, Utep was only Aaron Jones offer.Kugler gave us Aaron Jones and a bowl appearance
I don't think that's correct. We were the only school to offer Aaron and his brother.Kugler didn't give us Aaron Jones, Utep was only Aaron Jones offer.
And a winless season .Kugler gave us Aaron Jones and a bowl appearance
Wow, who can forget the 2000 whatever NM Bowl loss?!? The peak of UTEP success!Kugler gave us Aaron Jones and a bowl appearance
But he’s stated he came to UTEP because of Coach Kugler and has praised him many timesAaron Jones carried UTEP and Kug on his back the entire time he was here. Kug might not have won more than 2 games per year without him.
Ok and? If Jones never played here, we would have missed out on a NM Bowl appearance. Nothing else was accomplished. But he’s stated he came to UTEP because of Coach Kugler and has praised him many times

And I am sure you would be fine if he was still the football coach cranking out those losing seasons that were getting progressively worse. At least they didn't hold onto him for a couple of years longer as Senter would most likely do.But he’s stated he came to UTEP because of Coach Kugler and has praised him many times
No, we would’ve missed out on the greatest player in school historyOk and? If Jones never played here, we would have missed out on a NM Bowl appearance. Nothing else was accomplished.
It’s not like the Sun Bowl was standing room only when he played here either. A whole “18,000” were at his last home game and “15,000” the game before that.
No slight to him, but as a whole, we didn’t accomplish anything when he played. 1 bowl game - loss of course. No conference titles. No big wins. Same old story. Barely make a bowl. Lose to Power teams. Not contend for a conference title or even division title. No, we would’ve missed out on the greatest player in school history
Resources my man. ResourcesNo slight to him, but as a whole, we didn’t accomplish anything when he played. 1 bowl game - loss of course. No conference titles. No big wins. Same old story. Barely make a bowl. Lose to Power teams. Not contend for a conference title or even division title.
UTEP football didn’t change while he played. Exactly like Price’s last years and Dismel’s tenure.
I understand what you’re saying, but resources begat resources. Wins, good seasons, and competent teams all push our resources up a notch. Making bowl games and NCAA tournaments pour more money into the program and that success pushes donors and local casual fans to go out and support the team. The NMSU sellout wasn’t a fluke nor were the early season sell outs/near sell outs for football - the city wants to support the teams but it’s tough when they’re getting blown out by NMSU or losing to Southern Utah. The volleyball team proved this; win games, be competitive and the fans will support you.Resources my man. Resources
