I don’t support them, I haven’t been to a UTEP Mens Basketball game since 2011. My last game was the Woman’s NIT final in 2014
Liberty won the regular season and tournament CUSA championships. For their “best” non-conference home game against UTArlington they announced 2,649 in attendance. For their final home game of the year, they had 3,184. Which isn’t even close to their 4,000 seat arena capacity.
They sold out their arena once this year, same as UTEP, but with 7000+ less people. I don’t think attendance is the issue, but hey, sell out the Don!!!!!!
I think he means support as in donate to NIL. I do agree that increasing NIL would buy us some wins. NIL bought UNM a lot of wins this year.

Kansas St and Indiana had 2 of the highest NIL budgets in the country and didn’t make the NCAAs. NIL isn’t everything.
I think getting players with talent is major part of the job. It's definitely not everything but it's bigger than the other parts of the job

With that said it’s pretty much a certainty that he received a 2 year extension in late December early January facts are facts nobody is stupid enough to reveal sources and your not going to see a signed contract on this message board like a certain individual is asking for but with that said my whole point of this reply is to say that with no sources only my opinion I think all of the players that entered the portal were asked to leave and are not not leaving by choice. Jones who has not entered the portal is by far the best player of all that left with the highest ceiling but again the question has to be asked why did Golding not show any real player development skill with him and why was he used so sparingly? Obviously one of Golding’s coaching buddies popped Golding in the head and said he’s the talent don’t lose him and they most likely bumped his pay. The players in the portal finished 8th in a shit conference they’re not going anywhere better problem is our cowardly inept athletic director and his hire are still running the show so we’re F’d.

That’s a wild assumption don’t you think? DaCannon and Bynum left before the season ended. Why would a coach tell anyone they wouldn’t be welcomed back before the season was over?
I find it hard to believe that Camper and DTJ were asked to leave. At best, Bronzeing will only be able to bring in similar caliber players and not studs that will eat up their minutes. I don’t think anyone ever questioned the effort those two gave.
Golding hasn’t built a damn thing in 4 seasons and now all of a sudden he is clearing out the roster to pull a rabbit out of a hat and bring in a bunch of studs in 1 recruiting class?? I definitely want to watch this magic show.

I don’t question the effort that anyone on this team gave I actually think they played above their capabilities most nights but like Pitino has said over and over again throughout his career the best players play they’re best when the lights are the brightest Camper DJT and all the others had the lights shine down on them and the folded like cheap lawn chairs not to mention they pretty much quit on their coach the last 8 or 9 games. The effort from those guys and what the showed their coach when it counted the most including getting waxed by 20 to a midget Liberty team who in turn didn’t even belong on the same court with Oregon wouldn’t inspire me to want to go into a basketball war with them.

Why would they keep the extension a secret? Why not announce it ? Why would a recruit or an assistant coach come join Golding if he only has 1 year left on his contract? Im thinking that guy was telling the truth. Golding got and extension...😖😖😖😖
If you are worried about recruiting but don't want to give an extension to a bad coach, you give one to him anyway.
Only in the fine print you put the extra years are not guaranteed. That way you can send him packing without eating more years of a contract.
I think they did that for Rod Barnes at Ole Miss way back when.

Announcing an extension for Golding with the extra years guaranteed is like walking around with a sign that says "I'm stupid".
This wouldn’t be the first time Senter quietly extended a basketball coach’s contract mid-season.
On a post on Twitter about Hamilton leaving, I said I wouldn't tie my final season to Golding either. Hamilton's mom liked my comment. Take that for what it's worth.
Maybe she meant he has one last shot and Golding isn’t the guy they trust to develop him and keep him playing basketball after college.

It’s pretty sad UTEP is going to stick it out with Fool’s Golding. I just hope by 2026 we’ll have both a new coach and athletic director by the time we start in the Mountain West.
I want Golding out of here as much as anyone. He has done a horrible job both recruiting and coaching at UTEP, and there is nothing to indicate that the situation will ever change.
That said, the last sentence is both unfair and inaccurate. In his last three years at ACU he lead them to two NCAA Tournaments; he didn't get a chance during the middle year due to COVID, yet he still had a 20 win season and tied for second in the conference that year. And it's not like he took over a top notch program and kept the momentum going, he brought them up from Div 2 and suffered some lean years before building to that success.
All that matters now is that he can't get the job done at UTEP and needs to go. But to say that he's never had success as a head coach is just simply untrue.
At this point, it’s irrelevant what he did at ACU. Firstly, UTEP ain’t ACU. Secondly, the game has changed. The CBB world is totally different than what he had at ACU.
