Transfer Portal

We may not know who will be replacing them, but we know Golding's history at UTEP. He sucks at a quick rebuild. Just look at 2022-23. We'll be essentially in that same spot again. And we will assuredly suck again.
Yep. That's why my early prognostication is that we finish with an overall losing record. It has the potential to be baddd.

Again I will say this for those who don’t understand. In this day and age losing most of your team is not always bad. I can name multiple teams who were better the year after with all transfers. Drake for instances. The issue is Golding and his recruiting and coaching, not that we lost these players, that part is normal!

I will say this for those who do not understand. Look at the context in which I wrote my statement. Like really read it rather than just react. Golding sucks as a recruiter. Therefore the rebuild is likely to suck as well. Hence another crap team. Get it?

I disagree. They say the most important recruiting job you have this year is recruiting last year's team. Now that Golding has gotten that completely out of the way, he can focus all his time and energy on "traditional" recruiting.

Can you name any Golding led teams at UTEP that got better the following year with all transfers?

Corona do you choose to respond without reading just to disagree with me? Valid question, cause I don’t see where I suggested they’d be better with Golding next year? I said a lot of teams that lose players can be better the next year, but the problem is we have Golding and he can’t recruit. I was also responding to the comment of us being a single digit winning team next year and it is way too early to assume that without knowing who’s coming in.

It’s pretty clear now that what other teams can do doesn’t really matter when it comes to UTEP.

Paydirt Pete has entered the transfer portal. That’s it, we’re done.
😁
And the opposite is true as well. Vegas and Miner79 wouldn't complain if the the team was 2-20. They would scold your for talking bad about Bronzing and how much of a bad fan you are.
You making shit up to defend your BS only works in politics, Rockedstar. Sports is all about the numbers.

I don't have to defend anything, the numbers have proven Bronzing is a poor coach and there is no accountability in the athletic department, and yet you keep your Rah Rah act on here. You keep ignoring the facts and numbers.

Same question (which I know you will avoid answering) as I have asked your only other supporter:

Why should Bronzing stay as coach? What does it take for you demand change in the Athletic department and be accountable.

I guarantee you will give some Troll response and deflect like you always do. You my friend are one of the problems as Senter and Bronzing know they can always count on you with your pom poms as they crap all over everyone else.

Hey Turd Blossom, are you suffering from reading disability syndrome? I just wrote a pretty concise post, outlining why the Basketball Coach should resign or be fired. Yet you shrilly spout your normal nonsense that only you speak for all Miner fans, and you bear false witness against anyone that posts with logic and reason. You crap yourself when you lie.

I’ve been saying that they should allow an athlete to transfer if their coach is fired or gets hired by another school. Since they keep using the excuse that “well the coach can leave whenever they want.” But if the coach stays then the athlete should honor their commitment. Yes they can still transfer if their coach stays, but have them sit out a year if they decide to take that route. If the university decides to not reward them another scholarship year, then they can transfer. There has to be some kind of structure. I believe this will change soon

I think that's fair. I also like the idea of one free transfer, with a one year wait to play...no exceptions. Even sick grandmas.

These athletes are getting paid so those ideas are out the window. Can't limit their earning potential. This is the can of worms we live in now.
You would have to collectively bargain with them. I am fine with 2 free transfers. One for whatever reason. 2nd one would only apply with a coach transfer. You could use both as coach transfers. Everything else, got to sit out the year.

Should be pretty even with a coach changing jobs. Very unlikely a coach changes jobs 3 times within a 5 year period.

We’ve given 18-21 years the keys to the castle and the can come and go as they please and jump castle to castle with 0 consequences. The new system is trash! I’m all for kids getting money, but there no regulation on this and I think it’s ruined College Basketball. I for one don’t care about the sweet 16 and I usually love this time of the year. It’s great to see the little guy make a run. I’m not sure if we’ll ever see that. An example locally how this has changed College Basketball. Texas Tech in Lubbock was not very far above Utep in terms of talent and Utep was always very close in those games and won a decent amount of times as well. Now Texas Tech will blow Utep out of the water every year and it’s not even close. This is because they have Rich Alumni who have deep pockets to pay these NIL Contracts. I don’t hate Golding, but he’s proven to not be the right coach for the reality of the landscape that is NIL Dollars and lax transfer rules.

We'll win 10 or more, if only because three will be against non-D1 and we're sure to play at few more against bottom 250-350 teams.

Throw in a 4 and 14 conference record and we'll drag a corpse across the finish line.

But to the other point, I don't need to see who Golding brings in to know it will be another pointless season.
