That is when the next round of TV contracts start coming due.

Houston has invested 20 million in new coach Dana Holdorsen's contract plus 4.5 mill for staffing. Holgorsen's contract with UH is reportedly for five years and $20 million.

It was not that long ago when they were in our conference and losing to Mike Price teams. We'll see if the investment pays off but one thing's for sure. Houston ain't dickin around.

Thanks Uncle Tilman.

LOL Houston making million dollar power moves all over the campus, while we celebrate the played out and dull "Noche Latino" for the fifth straight year against UTSA this weekend.

Senter has a lot of work to do, good start with GECU sponsoring the Sun Bowl renovations, but Senter HAS TO strike gold in the next three years with a major corporate company or an El Pasoan who has disposable Cheddar to upgrade coaching salaries, or upgraded practice facilities for football or we will continue to fall behind G5 programs in our own state which we already a few years behind most except Rice, maybe.

Senter does not have to strike gold. Dimel and Terry do. No new sponsor is going to want to make significant donations to a football program with 0 home wins in 2 years and 1 overall with Dimel as coach. Dimel and Terry need to win soon and everything else will fall into place.

Sure, Senter COULD try some things, but without a winning product, they will be short term and not make a big difference overall.

Senter has to sell a vision. He has to put together a plan and sell it.

Nothing will happen until it goes through the state politicos, board members and the Harris County Animal Control board. Serious. It's not going to happen unless Houston wins something or pulls off a pummeling of a major team in a major bowl like Utah did to Alabama (that was a major beat down by Utah).

It's going to happen it has nothing to do with politics. The Pac 12 desperately needs the Houston market.

The PAC 12 league only brings in a team that provide beyond Tier 1 research and academics.

True but Arizona State's academics have always been a joke. Houston is much better academically than ASU. They are on par with Utah, CU, WSU, UO and OSU.

Of the public universities in Texas UH only trails ut dallas ut austin and a&m.

ASU has a better graduation rate than UH, so you have no clue what you are talking about.

How does that make them a better school. ASU gives out a shit ton of worthless online degrees. A UH degree carry a alot more weight than a degree from ASU.

Look at all the top academic schools. Their graduate rates are over 90%.

UH has online degrees as well.

I don't get the hate for ASU.

A UH degree doesn't carry more weight than a degree from ASU. It's not hard to get unto either school.

UH has by far the best facilities of any g5 school.

Got news for you, scooter, citing U.S. News as a meaningful reference for anything is the moral equivalent of using Wikipedia footnotes for your thesis paper.

Do you even know the components for obtaining Tier 1 status? Hint, it does NOT involve graduation rates. Beyond acclaimed engineering and business schools, UH also is the only university in Texas with Colleges of Ophthalmology, Pharmacy, Law, and Medicine, all in the most racially and ethnically diverse university in America.

Not banging on ASU or anybody else, all schools produce quality graduates. But in this age of playing fast and loose with the truth, facts and information can be helpful.

Think about what you're saying here, John. ASU gives out degrees at a higher rate, ergo ASU is academically superior to UH. I've got two degrees and neither is in Philosophy, but if that's not Twisted Logic 101 I'm not sure what is. And you're calling others clueless...

Holgerson's contract makes him the 21st highest paid head coach in college football. Not sure where $4.5 million in salaries for assistants ranks, but that's also a chunk of change, we may pay up to $1 million/year for a DC. Serious indeed...

BTW, stop by the Fertitta Center to see what $60 million buys these days. It's stunning. Being 15-0 this season with a nation-leading 27 game home winning streak doesn't hurt either.

I read that the seating capacity is only about 9K. Why so small?

The capacity is 7,100. That's all you need these days. That's the trend in college basketball. Smaller more intimate settings with amenities that cater to the donor. It's a first class facility. I thought after SMU renovated Moody that they had the best atmosphere in Texas college basketball. The Fertitta Center surpassed Moody which is saying something. It's a first class facility exceeds everything in the Big 12. UTEP needs a 6,000- 8,000 capacity arena. The days of 10,000 plus arenas for the most part, and especially for this level of basketball, are over.
