Sucks Man, the kids are there dressed and ready to play and then they cancel the game. That's just tough wish they would've had a better way of avoiding this expensive inconvenience SMH.
Just sucks. This was the first year in a long time when we didn't look like a decent 2A team and we just got derailed.
If this is true then shame on UTEP for trying to hide potentially positive players. I wonder if we have had some players test positive all along?Utep doesn't do antigen testing normally. Once Rice demanded that it be done, there was no way the game was going to be played.

Just going based on what Taco said. It all depends on how fast the PCR results are ready. Otherwise why would Rice be asking for Antigen tests and also why isn't UTEP reporting positive tests prior to today (forced too by Rice)?Aren't they tested by C USA 3 times per week?

From what I understand a positive antigen test means you are considered positive (because of high sensitivity). A negative antigen test is not as specific, therefore if the antigen test is negative a PCR should be requested if COVID is suspected (because it has a much higher sensitivity). Problem with the PCR is the turnaround time for results.I'm not saying that they were trying to hide positive test. From what I understand, the antigen test does not say whether or not you have covet. apparently, all it does is tell you if your immune system has been activated. I'm not a doctor by any means, but that's how it was explained to me and not by a doctor.

So if RICE was concerned that we had positive players and the MWF PCR tests were pending, then they could have asked for antigen tests. If this was the case and they cancelled the game then we obviously had player/players with positive antigens.
The NFL has been getting their teeth kicked in with COVID positives. I wonder if they’re having internal discussions about closing shop for a minute.
Any travel won't allow for a true bubble. Therefore the NFL regular season, NBA regular season and college sports are impossible to play without major roadblocks. In addition to this a true bubble requires 100% human compliance.Once again, these players from college to pro are supposed to be in their bubble. [SMH]
Gotcha! Sounds like we have a handful of people that were positive for the antigen test.

Not sure I follow what he is trying to convey? If I'm reading it correct then he is saying he didn't want his players checked at all before games?

Sounds like he and his team just got caught with their pants down.
I don't think that's correct. USM didn't come weeks ago due to covid issues on their team. UNT wouldn't come to EP because EP was a covid Hotspot and offered to pay UTEP's expenses to play in Denton. They wouldn't have offered if they thought UTEP's testing was suspect. FIU cancelled due to their own covid issues as did UAB.Reading between the lines its seemed for weeks that most of the conference has doubted the validity of UTEP's testing. No doubt that Rice had doubts and wanted UTEP to use their testing. I would be very interested to know if Rice made any other school test in Houston. Seems like they had no confidence in UTEP's testing.
Yes. My understanding is that Rice totally caught him off guard. Insisted on antigen tests too if I read a previous thread correctly. Not sure I follow what he is trying to convey? If I'm reading it correct then he is saying he didn't want his players checked at all before games?
