UTEP vs NMSU

I have been watching some Aggie games this week. Here's what I got:
1. Aggies foul like crazy. We'll be in the bonus early.
2. They don't play much team ball and can't brag about assists. They've got a couple or really good guards who penetrate and shoot 3s.
3. Their 7 footer isn't great. He gets rebounds, blocks and gets easy buckets but he's easy to get around.
4. They have a good forward, Filipovich(sp?). He loves to dribble and might be prone to getting his pocket picked with Goldings defense. We'll see. He's really good at bumping his way under the basket and putting up easy shots. Kalu's gonna have to hold his ground.
5. They are a scrappy bunch. They start slow and turn on the heat as they warm up. They will fight hard when the going gets tough.
6. They're not very deep.

NMSU has really improved and now will probably be a top 5 CUSA team this year. I don’t know if they’ll be nearly as good away from the Pan Am though. El Paso is a short trip though and they’ll have 2 thousand Aggie fans cheering. Might go to OT and that’s what I’m calling.

I'm pretty sure there tickets behind the score board that haven't been released. They're obstructed view seat so I think that's ok.

Its gonna sell out. If we got 10,500 to watch an 12-11 vs 11-12 matchup last season no doubt it’s gonna be a full house for this game.

Hope we get a sell out. This team is fun to watch. The big improvement I see from last year is the team’s confidence. These guys are hustling on defense, going after rebounds and loose balls. When we had a poor shooting day against La Tech the Miners’ defense played with more intensity. UTEP created turnovers and frustrated La Tech’s big man in the second half. I know it’s early in conference play, but the Miners appear to be playing some of their best basketball.

Looks like only the $42 and $50 tickets remain, so I’ll have to leave the kids at home for this one lol
UTEP 74 NMSU 76 (I hope and pray that I’m wrong but I’ve been a UTEP fan long enough to know how many times we’ve been let down.) We might get out coached even though we are more talented about 6-7 deep.

Something of note in CUSA. If Utep wins and other top 4 teams hold serve CUSA will have a Top50 RPI Team and 4 others in the top 100. That hasn’t happened in awhile into Conference Play. I know it’ll still be a one bid league, but this conference is decent this year!

I watched it on TV and recorded it on VHS...and today I can't find the damned tape. Grr...Such a great game!!

That Marshall game, before that WKU win, was fun as well. UTEP scored 205 points in those 2 games.

It’s been quite a while since we’ve held the top spot in the conference standings. Currently, being first in the standings is enough to get our spot in the bracketology. However, if we lose on Saturday, next week’s bracketology will see NMSU taking our place.
