UTEP vs Western Kentucky

Senior Day Saturday - after that the roster that is left needs to be 100% replaced no toughness no heart and especially no mid major talent. Coach this is who you brought to the show they are bad now it’s going to cost you your job.
Maybe Senter doesn’t replace you and if he doesn’t all your remaining players have to go. Your playing in a lower level D-1 conference preparing to go into a high level Mid Major conference with D-2 players your players and staff need a huge upgrade. It sucks that we can sit back and pick your team apart but it doesn’t take a basketball genius to see the obvious this is the profession you chose so this comes with the territory.

It's going to be a rebuilding year, Golding was terrible at building "his team" if Senter keeps him, that's stupid going into the MWC. Hey, why not get rid of Senter too!

We cut it to 4, could have been tied if Kalu had made his FTs tonight, and now it's back up to 8, and WKU has the ball. We need to D up and convert on offense
Cmon you’re supposed to blame Golding for those misses not Kalu. Get with the program on this board. Don’t you know all mistakes players make are caused by him?

I get the feeling that the Miners could be 0-28 at this point and you would still support Golding, blaming the players, the refs, the fans, and any other source you could find for our woes. But here are some facts:
  • Golding recruited every single player on this team.
  • The issue goes much deeper than Kalu having a bad day at the free throw line (he had a good day otherwise). As just one example, when WKU had pushed the score back up to either 8 or 10 points we had a defensive series where we gave up three offensive rebounds, with them scoring on that third rebound to push the score back up to 10 or 12. This wasn't an anomaly, it happens all the freaking time. Hell, even Northern New Mexico worked us their offensive boards in the second half of that game. It is the coach's job to fix our defensive rebounding problems, which hasn't happened in four years.
  • We're 3-7 in our last 10 games. Is that the fault of the players/refs/fans/the alignment of Saturn?
  • Golding built this team largely the old fashioned way, by returning players and creating a veteran team. Five key players, including our best overall player and best interior defender, will be gone next year. Golding has thus far proven to be incapable of rebuilding in a single season, meaning that this team probably represents his ceiling at UTEP. Yet we are currently in a three way tie for 6th place in the conference.
Being in the bottom half of the conference for each of the three years with his own players just isn't good enough. We need to start over. Golding is not the answer.

I was waiting for you to post because not too long ago you were searching for me, as you beat your chest after the road sweep of Liberty and FIU. Everyone and myself on here could tell you exactly what was going to happen with the rest of the season. And we were exactly right unfortunately.

So my question for you:
What do you expect out of this team and Golding? Do you want to keep Golding forever as it seems?

I understand being a supporter of the Miners, but isn't supporting them asking for changes so they can succeed? Do you call this succeeding?

For you and one other on here, the Miners and Golding can do no wrong. Regardless of their poor play and bad coaching, the team cannot be criticised in anyway. What does it take to change that for you? When is the time that changes need to be made?

Too be honest with you, while I was nowhere near as optimistic after that road sweep as MinerFan79, I didn't expect to only win three out of next ten games and sink to the 7th or 8th seed in the CUSA Tournament. This run has been ugly beyond belief.

As for MinerFan79, it seems that he will support each and every Miner coach to the bitter end. Two years ago he was ardently defending Dimel through a three win season, this past year he never criticized Walden or his play calling, and seemed to think that Skyler Locklear was All American caliber, and now he's defending Golding, even though in his fourth year we have a losing record in conference. My guess is that while they were here he also fervently supported Rab, Floyd, Terry, Nord, Price, and Kugler up until the end.
