What is the standard for this MBB team?

New banners for the Don and trophies for the case.
They beat a really good team without their two best players for the majority of the first half. New Mexico was long and took away much of our inside passing game. We didn't shoot very well from distance. "Clutch" Lathon was able to win it in the waning seconds. I think we should be able to play in the tournament and given the right set of circumstances perhaps top 32?
Have to wait to see how they play on the road. I dont consider NMSU a road game. That Houston game is going to be huge.
Unlike the late Dennis Green, let's not "crown 'em" just yet. UTEP hasn't played a road game yet. That will come December 3rd at NMSU. Let's see what this team can do on the road.
I posted here some time ago about my expectations of Coach Terry to be much higher this season, being that he has purged all of the Coach Who's Name Shall Never Be Spoken Again recruits. It's entirely his program now.
I came into this season not expecting UTEP to win the conference, nor make the NCAA Tournament. I did expect UTEP to be much improved over last season, and win more than 8 games from a season ago. Looks like that's going to easily happen. I expect UTEP to make a run in the CUSA Tournament up to the semifinals. Regardless of UTEP's record and RPI, if they don't win the CUSA Tourney, they won't be in the NCAA Tourney. Not their fault, CUSA is just and will continue to be a one bid league. I do expect UTEP to play in the NIT Tournament, and win at least one game.
Come next season, UTEP should be loaded for bear, and be a serious contender for the CUSA championship and a NCAA Tournament participant.

I consider it a true road game. They’re as good as anyone in cusa and the hostile basketball atmosphere will be as good as the best in cusa can offer.
Top four in C-USA standings, C-USA Tournament Championship game appearance, play a close game in post season NIT or if the basketball gods allow, THE BIG DANCE.
And don't forget Kaden Archie will soon be thrown into the mix.

If UTEP beats Houston and wins that tournament in Hawaii, they'll have a good chance for an at-large. What the committee is looking for most of all are quality wins. UTEP is definitely good, but winning at Houston is a tall order, so we'll see what happens.
I dont consider a road game. Also when NMSU comes to Utep i dont consider it a road game for them. Its home games for both teams. The arenas are pretty much half and half for both sides.
This is easily a 20+ win team this year if everybody stays healthy. We need to beat NMSU in Cruces and then keep winning the games we are expected to win. If we 'Protect the Don' then we are easily top 2-3 in CUSA.
I think our biggest indicator will be that short stretch in late December. If we go 2-2 between Houston and the Hawaii tournament then that will be right about what I expected coming in. If we somehow go 3-1, then this team will have already way surpassed my expectations.

My expectations for this team, before the 4-0 start, where to make the top pod in CUSA. I think we can easily do that. In my wildest dreams, this team wins a tournament game.

I thought this was about Basketball? I expect them to compete for the top 2 or 3 spots in conference.
Agreed. I've attended more UTEP NMSU games than I can count in the last 30 years and I have never once seen a 50/ 50 split in either arena
