Does ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ QB transfer affect ticket sales?

That’s fine and dandy. There are already a few “smart guys” suggesting EP is going to turn out for Nelson just because he’s a “5 star recruit”.
Casual and neutral fans will be showing up to see a “5 star recruit”. Having a 5* QB is a great marketing tool towards the casual/neutral fans as it will increase curiosity and give UTEP someone to focus their marketing on. It is a lot easier to convince someone to go buy tickets and see a game if there is a 5* recruit or a new coach or some other driving factor.

How UTEP decides to handle it and whether they fully capitalize on the situation is to be seen.

UTEP vs NMSU

Is it still the same system to access them through UTEP’s Ticketmaster? I remember having such a horrible time trying to transfer tickets to someone a few years ago that I only get physical season tickets now.

I get physical tickets because at every event I go to there is always somebody have trouble getting their tickets scanned from their phone. I never have a problem with physical tickets.

It goes back to the university to properly market and move tickets. The first home game of the season doesn’t have trouble getting 30k plus, and it’s on the university to get the word out.

Most of the casual fans will see a 5* QB and be interested to see at least the first game. Most people couldn’t name a single player on this year’s team but showed up to see what the new coach was about (not a great first impression but still).

I would like to see UTEP send out some people to sell tickets at different events, maybe have a kiosk at the Chihuahuas games for example.

Jones played on some bad teams and in a tough to watch offense.

A lot of them obviously don’t. Since the common excuses we hear is that they don’t know when UTEP plays or how to buy online tickets.

Jones wasn’t a 5 star recruit but he was here for 4 years and played in front of sub 20k crowds his last 4 home games. Hey, go ahead and believe people will buy tickets to see 1 relatively unknown QB.

The walk up line at one ticket booth in cold temps will keep people away. Yes there are online options but as you can see, there are fans that are not comfortable using that option. UTEP and its athletic dept need to also accommodate these fans. They are obviously interested and buying tickets so don’t make it more difficult for them.

Aaron Jones wasn't a 5 star recruit . Now if KJ Lewis have gone to Utep then i think he would sell tickets. You act like El Pasoans don't have the Internet.

He’s not Zion or LeBron James. He’s not an established college star. If wins come, fans will come regardless of who is the QB.

Fans didn’t show up when Aaron Jones played here and he was a local kid. The best local player ever and you think people will just show up for this guy. Not happening.

I really think 10k is a possibility. Saturday night, don’t think there’s any big concerts (I don’t live in EP obviously but just guessing) there’s a semi-decent NFL playoff Primetime game but I really feel Aggie fans will show up to the Don like they used too and we get a good walk up crowd from UTEP fans who are finding out this team is actually worth watching.

@utep1966 care to add any positive thoughts??

Nothing than what I already stated. I just think the higher priced seats will keep some fans away. I predicted 7-8k. I'm hoping for more!

Tickets already look like they have outsold last nights game on the Ticketmaster map. Hoping for 10k+ but thinking it might be around 8-9k.

I don't do predictions but we might as well make it the prediction thread as well.
