I mean it is part of El Paso's culture, I'm good with "El Chuco" I wouldn't use the term, but there is nothing wrong with it IMO.Login to view embedded media
Like I said, screw it lean into the cholo angle. HBCUs have their thing and they embrace it. Let’s go ahead and be the cholo school. I’d honestly prefer some Kid Frost instead of lame ass Journey.
I agree to a point and really feel the community supports, 40k to watch FCS vs FCS?? The community is not the problem, it’s UTEP’s job to put a product worth investing in. (We’re talking football)Where else does the admin get money other than from the community which plays a part. Can't all be relying on major doners/boosters like a broke kid asking for a handout.
Support ($$ to buy tickets even if the product sucks) goes both ways. It's an investment. It seems like a poor investment to most, but you want something nice? Put the time and money into it.
Regular alumni don't care, no one wants to buy tickets because "the product is poor". If this isn't an advertisement for "you get what you pay for" as in having a Dimel or Walden, idk what is

I’m glad he’s been able to make the transition to the NFL. The guy may not be the most skilled player out there, but he plays with intensity.I must admit I was wrong about this young man. He played very well last night! Hopefully, he'll be able to be our next Seth Joyner!

They did bring big boy money that UTEP will partake in. Liberty was in a BCS bowl. CUSA was top notch in CUSA 2 years ago.I’m sorry but cusa is for fcs starts up. Let them prove themselves there first before getting a seat at the big kids table.
We are lucky they didn’t. The MWC would have been fine without themUNLV just missed the tournament last year and has a better team this year. They always schedule OOC extremely tough. Their net ranking and SOS will be very high. They will most likely make the tournament this coming year. They will be strong even with the departure of the others. One could argue they may be better than Nevada right now.
Secondly, they may be the best non P4 football team and may make the playoff. The MW is very lucky they did not leave for the PAC 12.

UNM and Nevada are really all that’s left Basketball wise and UNLV is middle of the pack. It could be a 2 bid type of league though, we’ll see.
If we don't make it a 2 bid league we got no one to blame but ourselvesSDSU, Boise State, Utah State and Colorado St. definitely were big loses Basketball wise. There’s already doubt that UTEP can even compete in the MWC, might as well have penciled in the Miners finishing DFL in the Pac.
Imagine Bronzeing coaching against Gonzaga and San Diego St when he can barely beat LaTech and Middle Tennessee.
UTEP joining the MWC is proof that wins, losses, and LED lighting don’t matter!not if we heavily invest in LED lighting!!
He might still be on hold with his cable company to see if he has CBSSN.maybe his frustration with utep athletics caused him to transition into a nmsu aggie fan ?
Yeah, but NET and computer rankings don’t account for bias and history. If those schools and UTEP have good OOC, that’s all that matters. UTEP sucks because they go on multiple 6 game losing streaks during the season.Mountain West will still have 3 solid basketball programs that should be in the NCAA tournament with the departures:
UNLV- has been building a solid team and has a tough OOC schedule
New Mexico- should be a top 15 program with the recruiting
Nevada
The issue will be the strength of schedule will go down not playing the 4 strong schools that left, and playing UTEP twice.
A couple of guys I know have said good things about what they have seen in practice. Really Golding has a veteran team, so expectations should be fairly high. Bynum and Barnes are key in my opinion. CUSA is set to be tougher than last year overall. Hopefully, the league can pull off some early season wins, but realistically it will all come down to the tournament again.Don’t think the basketball will suck this year and still believe Walden will get it going next year, but I get your apathy for sure!
