New MWC Possibility:
There still could be a possibility of the MWC getting to 10. Maybe in the future? We'll see.I would rather have LaTech than Tarleton, but if their media partners say otherwise, then you take a Texas team

Can 1 school, especially UNM have that much power? I hate NMSU as much as the next guy but if we’re talking recent history, controversies aside NMSU might be the best program in this area. Bowl wins, NCAA Tournament births….. shootings……. forced hazing/sexual assaults…… I’m thinking they shot themselves in the foot with all of that stuff.safe to assume unm is blocking nmsu’s entrance into the mwc?
No, not really. Repetition on El Paso market is why they won’t be considered until there are no other options.safe to assume unm is blocking nmsu’s entrance into the mwc?
I think this will help especially if Walden recruits in Cali and the west coast.
I would rather have LaTech than Tarleton, but if their media partners say otherwise, then you take a Texas teamSo with Texas State out I guess Tarleton is up. Interesting that Tarleton was higher on the priority list than NMSU. I would have even thought La Tech would be better.
Cal wasn't very good. The Texas win was good, though, but it wasn't with UTEP.

Winning the CUSA 2024 and 2025 volleyball championships, 2025 football championship, and CUSA basketball championships in 2025 and 2026.
No. They need 1 more full-time member.Well now that Texas St. is out that would seem like a wise move. I know Tarleton St. is talking to the MWC, but I think MWC needs to Bolster the football side and N. Illinois and Toledo would help! So then C. It is lol
C. UTEP, UNLV, SJSU, Wyoming, Nevada, UNM, Air Force, Hawaii (Football), N. Illinois (Football), Toledo (Football) St. Mary’s (Basketball), Grand Canyon (Basketball)
Boom Done!
Don’t waste your time trying to reason with himCal wasn't very good. The Texas win was good, though, but it wasn't with UTEP.
Having murder plots on their basketball players might have something to do with that.

Toledo (consistently there in the MAC, Bowl appearances in '10, '11 '12 '14 '15 '16 '17 '18 '21 '22 '23)
N. Illinois the same with bowls '10-'15, '17, '18, '21' 23 (and recent win over Norte Dame this year) would bring the elevated competition
St. Mary's or GCU for basketball would be fine
Having murder plots on their basketball players might have something to do with that.Even so, UNM and NMSU are no longer doing H/H in basketball any longer.
Cal wasn't very good. The Texas win was good, though, but it wasn't with UTEP.He beat Cal and Texas. Again you sounding stupid. 🙄🙄🙄
Texas State updateI’m happy to be joining the MWC, but can’t help wonder if the Pac gave UTEP any serious consideration. I know some of the newly added Pac schools believe their schools are P4 level and maybe were against us joining them. It appears TX State’s goal is to get into the Pac but they are patiently waiting to see how things play out. I don’t blame TX State for taking their time, but it would suck if they get into the Pac. I know the MWC and Pac were trying to attract Texas schools, but the options are dwindling down. I see the Pac making another effort to get Memphis or another AAC team.
BNow that we know Utep is going to the MWC. This thread was started based on the speculation of how much Utep would be better off in a watered down MWC. Which of these two MWC scenarios do we like better for Utep? Me personally A. slightly
A. UTEP, UNLV, SJSU, Wyoming, Nevada, UNM, Air Force, Hawaii (Football), Texas St. Sam Houston, St. Mary’s or Grand Canyon (Basketball)
B. UTEP, UNLV, SJSU, Wyoming, Nevada, UNM, Air Force, Hawaii (Football), Tarleton St., Toledo or N. Illinois (Football), St Mary’s or Grand Canyon (Basketball)
Wasn't asked (unlike the PAC-12), probably would've been the same answer of "I don't know what their thinking..."Yea I appreciate it. Barely caught the last segment after work. He mention NMSU or TXSt to the MW at all?
