OT: Ominous Vibe

There's this document called the Constitution and a process called Due Process, there's a way to do it legally, and the Felon47 way. Anyone in this country "legal" or not is protected by the Constitution which applies to all people within US jurisdiction, not just citizens.

You didn't answer the question, so that means you are ok with illegal aliens in this country.

I really hope an illegal alien does destruction to you or somebody you know because I promise you that your thoughts about illegals will change in an instant.

OT: Ominous Vibe

So all the extra bull$hit aside, you are ok with keeping these jackass, violent ILLEGALS in our country> What kind of fool supports that? Who cares how we get them out? They don NOT have rights like us.

So it’s time to accept it, Golding isn’t leaving!

It'll never happen of course but how bad do you want Golding gone?

Would you take Terry back if it meant ousting Golding?

Which would be worse?
Golding won more games with Terry's players than Terry did, so I see no evidence that Terry is a better coach than Golding. He's a good recruiter, but that's not enough. Neither coach has what it takes to win at UTEP.

So it’s time to accept it, Golding isn’t leaving!

Why would I have to trade Terry for Golding?

Both are hot stinky garbage. We need to modernize our basketball program, much like the football program is heading towards modernization.

So it’s time to accept it, Golding isn’t leaving!

Don't we at least deserve a statement from Senter and Golding about the future? Mainly Senter??
Yes. Now typically AD's go into hiding during post tournaments in search of new hires as assistants and HC are looking at moving.

However, Senter and Wilson feel absolutely no need to respond. Ok, the coach gets paid for that but UTEP is going nowhere with Golding. He gives boilerplates; I would too if I were in his shoes and fans want to move on. This is happening on the academic side as well. So, as ticket holders and fans, you go up the food chain if your emails go unresponsive.

Bob Stull

But isn’t that our only football title in history? He has three basketball titles. Not an incredible number, but at the rate things are going, they might end up being legendary.
Brumbelow won our first title outright in 56.
Mike McCarthy saw oversaw a National Title in 66 and a couple of Sun Bowl Wins. I don’t know who was AD in the 70s and 80s but track was winning national titles and basketball was an absolute menace. So, again by the metric of titles Stull is above Senter…. That’s it.

Several Shining Moments - UTEP Basketball 2024-25

I'll add some:

1. 10:33
2. We ALMOST beat Louisville
3. Paying Bynum a lot of money in NIL then kicking him off the team
4. That losing streak we went on
5. "We're going to figure out rebounding" after every game by Golding
6. Deaver always getting excited about steals then going silent when the team gets wilted
7. Having a 10 point deficit in so many games
8. Having a 4 minute drought in most games
9. Getting to 15-5 then not hitting 20 wins
10. Two players leaving the team before the season ended
11. Not getting a shot off when we had a chance to win or tie on the last possession of a game.

I'll add more when I think of them

OT: NCAA Tournament 2025

We almost beat them in a meaningless scrimmage 5 months ago! Joe Bronzeing 4ever!
So I'll say again, it's not that UTEP's early victories over Yale and Liberty or their close losses to Louisville and New Mexico are worth ridiculing, but the problem is that all those teams continued to improve as the season progressed whereas UTEP fell apart.

OT: NCAA Tournament 2025

Liberty's guards made Oregon's guards look like centers. It would have been nice if Liberty would have made some shots at the start to get a little bit of confidence. But they didn't, and it was obvious that Oregon's length really bothered them.

It was just a really bad matchup. And I do think that other CUSA teams would have been much more competitive with them.

Several Shining Moments - UTEP Basketball 2024-25

A few fond memories I will cherish for a lifetime from this past season:

1) An opponent drilling a three as Baylor Hebb flails with both arms about 2 seconds after the ball was released.
2) Baylor Hebb driving into the lane and getting the ball sent to the 4th row
3) Being told no way we can play Hamilton and Kalu at the same time, it creates a disadvantage, but watching the least individual creators in Hebb, Horton, Jones, Thomas and Barnes play at the same time.
4) Being up by 6 points several times and deciding to slow down and take the team out of rythm by forcing Frzier post ups, which everyone including opponents knew was coming.
5) Frazier's missed dunk, setting the tone in a blowout loss to NMSU.
6) Asking for sellouts for years and then deciding not to want to play afterall.
7) Hyping up an experienced squad all summer/fall, and then losing by 29 at Utah Valley, let me repeat, Utah Valley.
8) Going 4-5 at home in conference, including 3 straight.
9) A halftime entertainment show (Don't recall the exact game) of Paydirt Pete randomly trying to hit half-court shots, yes it wasn't planned but that was elite.
10) Knowing this team never gave up.
Nice TD.

Out of pure self preservation, I will remember just three things from this past season:

1. Gloria Nevarez trying to fire up the sell out crowd at halftime of the NMSU game, with UTEP down by 13.
2. Bea Martinez (miss you Roy) 😉
3. "Nothing is a straight line"... Jim Senter

OT: NCAA Tournament 2025

WTF happened to Liberty?! I guess they weren’t even worthy of an at large and just proved why our conference wasn’t regarded as being very good even though we had so much parody but it was just a bunch of mediocre teams fighting to be the best average team.
That’s actually not necessarily true at all… CUSA teams have performed surprisingly well over the last 10 years look it up. Liberty was a hot and cold team and if they don’t make 3s they are mediocre at best. Well that happened. I believe Jacksonville St. would’ve actually been a better representative and made it tough on whoever they played. Its also about matchups. San Diego St got hammered in the play in game, Akron got destroyed after dominating the MAC, Utah St. the best MWC team all year got smoked! Just examples of matchups and in a one and done game scenario anything can happen!
