Yup fully agree. Hester’s guards seem to funnel everything towards Batcho I’d like to see Kalu with some effective post touches or finishes off the funneling UTEP guards because you’re right he’s gonna slap almost everything from around the rim and I think Kalu finishing and getting some slams or easy bunnies will force Hester to adjust.Good take. Last year, Hamilton played quite a bit in an attempt to neutralize Batcho offensively. IMO, Kalu is giving up too much size and length against Batcho. While Kalu has not been as prone to foul trouble this year, that has to be a concern against Batcho.
Also, Batcho is a good rim protector, so UTEP has to be more efficient when attacking the basket. Last year, I recall Terrell getting his drive attempts blocked 5 or 6 times at LAT. The good news is that UTEP shoots the ball better this year (don't want to jinx them), and LAT can be prone to turnovers. Hopefully, UTEP can bring the defensive intensity they had against Seattle in the first half, and extend that for the entire game.
UTEP is probably going to deny and trap Batcho every trip on D to disrupt his big ass meaning the guards have to be trucha on the ISO with their two good guards, I can see La Tech ripping UTEP’s tits with blow bys tonight.
Golding v Hester Gonna be a damn good chess match and decide the early race for the top in the standings.
