Tarteton State

You are mistaken. Tarleton has lots of money and does not need money games to fund their programs. They’re building a new arena and are willing to move up to FBS, but they lack an invite. Not sure why their team plays against so many Power programs, but it’s not to keep their department alive like Jackson St and other HBCUs
Yeah. They have that steady allowance handed down from big brother, A&M.

Like Tarleton, they fund their program with money games.

We are going to see Jackson State this week. They haven’t played a Home Game yet and are winless. Like Tarleton, they find their program with money games.

Looking ahead, Yale/Akron will be a test but the La Tech game to open conference play will be critical. CUSA is pretty balanced.
Liberty is looking like a legit at large team if they keep it up, but other than that I think United stacks up with anyone if we can put it together finally.

UTEP ticket office

Speaking of tickets and attendance. What is wrong with El Paso?? Golding has a good team and Haskins Center is empty . I hope attendance picks up when Utep is back in the Mountain West?? The Sun Bowl Tournament has some good quality Mid Majors, if Utep makes the championship game there should at least be 8k. Where are those volleyball ball fans that were packing the memorial gym??
The Golding teams have been mainly boring/frustrating to watch and haven't been winning (this years team is probably the most fun to watch since Year 1 of Golding). The lack of winning is a big reason. Monday night game competing against working people, parents, and Monday Night Football. The games being on ESPN+ has its effects as well, although ESPN+ sucks. To go to a game is pretty pricey to some people (although you can buy cheap seats and move up). And it's not like UTEP is playing familiar teams. The home schedule has sucked this year. All of this put together, only the die hards will come out. When you go almost 15 years without an NCAA appearance, it starts having an impact on attendance. And even with this, UTEP is still among the attendance leaders in CUSA.

All this can change with winning though. And i really hope this season and next builds momentum going into the MWC. I don't think Golding has the recruiting chops to do it, but hopefully he can prove me wrong.

UTEP Basketball game parking

If Jim Senter and the athletic department wants to create a better relationship with the fans, they need to remake the private parking lot pavement and better lighting.
Asking Jim Senter and the athletic department to re-pave the parking lot and buy new lighting is like asking Scotty Walden to approve new carpeting in UGLC and begin renovations for new classrooms

These UTEP student bodies DGAF about athletics!

Back in my day we’d have to skip class to stand in line at the old ticket office! Use your Miner ID and we were set!

If Broaddus redid he student body/athletics survey from years back, he would find the same or worse results - the students don’t care. And who could blame them, with a slow to act athletic department and under performing teams!

So that's less than 5 percent. Compare that to Texas Tech which houses 25% of their 32000 enrollment on ca.pus. that's a much bigger pool from which to draw attendance.

Exactly. A lot of people want UTEP students to go to the games, but many students are non-traditional. It's easy living on campus vs. working, commuting to school, and attending the games.

About 1000 beds since 2015 with 1000 more to add

Fits with what I remember with the numbers as a RA with miner heights and miner canyon being the “new” ones at that time
