Why is the game vs New Mexico Lobos an Exhibition and not regular season ?
Right. Not sure why SHSU would feel the same as UTEP.Isn’t that what we’re talking about? SHSU saying not interested in the MW. You’re the one that posted the tweet that started the conversation.
Who cares? They’re in a conference with FCS move ups and a better geographical fit for them.Does SHSU feel that way?
That’s just people hypothetically speaking though. The MWC most certainly isn’t staying at 8 teams anyway.I think the article that quotes 6M states that MWC thinks they can get the same contract as before, but divided by 8 instead of 12 means the previous 4M per team becomes 6M per team.
Yes, I saw that too, I know it applies for UNLV.I was thinking the same thing actually. However, a while back (I think it was a guy from Albuquerque), stated that the new deal with the MWC would ensure a payout of at least $3.5M per team per year (even if that amount would need to be subsidized by league funds). If that is indeed the case, it was an obvious no brainer for UTEP to jump at the chance. I'll try to dig up that article.
I’ll take the raise, better league, and old regional rivals any day. I don’t think I would get excited playing Delaware amd Kennesse St.So... only 2 or 3x what CUSA would pay instead of natty's 4-6x ? I'd take that raise anyway
It’s already been said that if they keep the number low it’ll be a bigger piece of a smaller pie. It’ll be at least 4 million per, Bank on it!You really think MW losses its best teams, replaces them with UTEP and the payout will be the same? IMO maybe 2/3 million.
It didn’t take long to search google and see that everyone not named Boise State was only getting 3.5. I don’t even think we get that much.

It’s not that far fetched in today’s climate to believe the payout will be the same or better. Sports and news are the only two things that are propping up cable/satellite/streaming television. TNT just signed a 3 on 3 women’s basketball league and will be airing it on Mondays and Fridays and then on TruTV on Saturdays. You really think MW losses its best teams, replaces them with UTEP and the payout will be the same? Exactly. It’s also another way of saying they can’t afford to go or that the MWC only expressed “interest” and did not offer. They most likely can't afford exit fees and membership fees to buy in. They just bought into CUSA.
People are saying MWC is going to be paying out $3-7 million per school while CUSA is paying out $600k. No way they would prefer CUSA over MWC.
