UTEP @ Goats

Hes really stumbling over his words when talking about Skylar.
That doesn’t bother me. What do you say after giving a kid the hook? He can’t flat out say he wasn’t playing good and Cade went out there threw the ball with reckless abandon and almost undid everyone’s mistakes. Just like everyone else Walden is still learning on the job, and next time he’ll know he needs to have a better answer.

Pac12 not dead?

Seems to me that there is alot of ego's involved and alot of "we have to survive" going on.

The PAC12 is promising a better deals than the MW when its basically the same conference. Now that the lawsuits are involved, its becoming personal. The MW is trying everything to not die.

The only value UTEP brings over UNM is the exit fees.

As of today, the Mountain West is not a Conference at 7 teams but neither is the PAC12.
As usual my friend, you are spot-on

So the pandemic is Trump's fault? Not Faucci who funded it? The deaths have no connection to planned bad vaccines? MANY respected publications show this was a planned attack on the world. Yet our economy was still strong. But ok, stay in your enclosed world . You still wear those worthless masks in your car while you drive alone?
Unhinged conspiracy kooks, just like your dear leader.
House Republicans abdicated their responsibility to examine how COVID-19 came to be objectively. Instead, they weaponized concern about a lab-related origin to fuel sentiment against our nation's scientists and public health officials for partisan gain.

I think when dust settles UTEP ends up in the MWC. The PAC12 is a pipe dream.
Right. If the MWC continues on as a conference, UTEP will be offered and I believe they would accept. Though, they could turn them down.

If the MWC dissolves, which they probably won’t, then UTEP stays in CUSA and maybe takes some MWC orphans.

Those are the only two scenarios I see. There is no scenario where the Pac 12 takes UTEP over New Mexico. So UTEP being invited to the Pac 12 isn’t happening now, probably ever.

In the same way you influence your boss’s decision. I loathe defending Senter, but this one is pretty much above his head after he gives his two cents. What is interesting about that is Wilson is the former Secretary of the Air Force. AFA already committed back to the MWC but who knows how long that lasts at this rate.
Yes, that has to carry some weight. I would think they would vouch for UTEP, or at the very least be OK with UTEP being added. Problem is they don’t even know where they are going to end up at the moment.

He doesn’t have the DECISION but he does influence the Decision

I think interest might have been a bit of an overstatement. They were probably looking at every school available, looked at UTEP, laughed and said “Ok…. So who’s the next school.”
Yes, that’s a possibility. And I was told by someone with knowledge on the situation—Not firsthand.

Maybe I was lied to, or there was interest similar to Dumb and Dumber.

I know it firsthand. I said interest, I didn’t say a lock or salivating at the idea. Look up interest.

They were also interested in other schools and ultimately preferred, and selected those schools.

At one point the AAC had interest in UTEP back in 2020 or so. But we were the worst program in the country.
Who told you that? That’s not even remotely believable. I’ve never once seen a credible reporter ever mention UTEP to the AAC. Even in a CUSA/MWC doomsday scenario, they have so many better choices for them.

Pac12 not dead?

Sure, but all the things that make other schools relevant, they don’t have the El Paso anchor dragging them down.

El Paso has certain stereotypes, some of which that are definitely true. Some aren’t, but El Paso doesn’t have favorable things good for it.

Other conferences don’t need a bilingual call center or Mexican food. They want recruits and English speaking tv sets. All the Eastern leagues don’t need to go out this far, they have plenty of schools to choose from in the central and eastern time zones. UTEP is a non-starter.

The MWC only needs UTEP because of its location and lack of other qualified schools. There’s only so much Senter can do. Having a competent football program and a NIT caliber basketball program, wouldn’t change anything right now.

The AAC or SBC wouldn’t have taken UTEP 2 years ago. The SEC, ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, would never take them. UTEP doesn’t have a lot of options going forward.

But isn’t part of senters job to make Utep look attractive to the outside world and help make Utep relevant ? I would say he’s not doing the best

Senter does not influence any decision on UTEP’s behalf. A number of things are considered, but who the AD is, is not of them. I don’t believe Senter has any bad blood with current MWC schools because of scheduling or poaching coaches.

UTEP will move conferences because they are wanted. The why doesn’t matter. Senter could cold call everyone, it’s not going to make a difference. He’s not selling insurance or fishing for donations.

It’s also foolish to believe Senter/Wilson haven’t been in contact with anyone from the MWC either or they’re not trying or haven’t ever “tried”.

Senter has little popularity because of Dimel and Terry, and to some extent Golding. Do you think he likes flying his teams to Miami and Delaware, when he could be flying them to Albuquerque or Phoenix?

Pac12 not dead?

That right there is the million dollar question. Are we wanted, or do we think that we’re wanted?
If the MWC continues as a conference, we are wanted. If the MWC doesn’t continue then we remain unwanted.

If Walden runs the table the rest of the way and Golding makes the NCAAs, we will still be unwanted, unless the MWC needs us to continue on.
