Okay, I consider myself to be a serious basketball junkie and two things have really bothered me about Coach Floyd's tenure and would like for someone to explain them to me.

1. First, why are UTEP defenders always abandoning their shooters to help with the guy driving in the lane? I know that's what you coached in the old days because you want the other team to shoot the lowest percentage shot as possible, but today's game emphasizes the three and other teams are really good at making those shots. Are the coaches teaching the players to help with the drive or are the players undisciplined?

2. What is happening with that offense? I just don't understand it. Is it poor guard play or what? It seems so old, like every shot is a contested mid-range two with two seconds left in the clock. What offense does coach run? How should that offense look? Which team runs that offense? Just wondering, because the point of that offense seems to be to drain clock and not to score points.

have got to get to bed so i will just look at the first question that you posted

yes the whole idea is to keep people from getting into the lane... the whole idea is that floyds team wants to get the ball inside while he keeps the other teams outside... even these days i would rather have a team beat me from behind the arc than inside.... you will have a team every once in awhile that will kill you from 3 but the percentages are in your favor i believe... just look at some of the good defensive teams in the ncaa tournament.... they do a lot of the same things.... the only difference i believe is that some of them do recover a bit quicker ---- the idea though is sound...

on offense i do have to believe we just didnt have the people to run what floyd wants... cooper is not a point guard... i dont know if noticed but i think you and i could drive the lane better than he could.... and if you have a pg that cant drive the ball that really limits your options as on offense in my opinion... i know that one of floyds main things is to get a lot of balls in the paint and get a lot of touches around the rim, which is also a great strategy if you have good shooters out on the wings which is another thing we really do not have.... that is one of the reasons i think next years team will be so much better... i think harris is going to be able to really penetrate which is going to open up a lot of lanes for hunter, and some of the 3pt shooters, like earvin morris, flaggert, hopefully lee more and touchet as well.... but i guess time will tell.... ok sorry if this does not make sense but i really have to go to bed.....

I will take the second question. Look how good our inside game and the offense in general ran when we hit shots from the outside. We were smokin on all cylinders when outside sots went in. Everyone knew we generally couldn't shoot the outside shot, so they packed the middle. Thus, our offense clogged up and it looks like we can't get a shot off before the 35 second clock winds down.

In my opinion, we needed a great two guard who can shoot. Would have opened up the whole offense. Of course, no one could consistently shoot outside of eight feet, so we looked really bad at times.
