Okay, I consider myself to be a serious basketball junkie and two things have really bothered me about Coach Floyd's tenure and would like for someone to explain them to me.
1. First, why are UTEP defenders always abandoning their shooters to help with the guy driving in the lane? I know that's what you coached in the old days because you want the other team to shoot the lowest percentage shot as possible, but today's game emphasizes the three and other teams are really good at making those shots. Are the coaches teaching the players to help with the drive or are the players undisciplined?
2. What is happening with that offense? I just don't understand it. Is it poor guard play or what? It seems so old, like every shot is a contested mid-range two with two seconds left in the clock. What offense does coach run? How should that offense look? Which team runs that offense? Just wondering, because the point of that offense seems to be to drain clock and not to score points.
