Word on Twitter is that this combo guard is visiting today (Sunday). He looks like a very good passer, has a very nice shooting touch, handles the ball well with both hands and is very quick. Seems a little like a small Omega Harris with a better stoke. I wouldn't be unhappy if we brought him in.

He has a nice stroke from the outside. But if he could come in and dish the ball as a freshman that would be great.

Thought I heard his teammate Kaiden Anderson is visiting also. He is 5 11 and 160lb. point guard.

Nevermind...just read Miner Rush. They say there's only one scholly left????? Thought there were two. Only have eleven according to my count.

Man this Carlos guy looks like the guy we need.
He is fast and can shoot the ball.
Could you see him and Omega running the fast break.

Go Miners...

I agree HaskinsFan, he would be a good fit for our team. I hope we sign him or both :)

He looks super good in the video. The only stats I could find on him were that he averaged 4.4 ppg and 2.4 apg (not sure what season that is for). He played for Monroe in the 12-13 and 13-14 season then sat out last season 14-15. Does he lose a year or does he still have 2 years to play? Does anyone have any stats that are better than that? His video makes him look better that 4.4 ppg and 2.4 APG.

doesn't have overwhelming stats. 2.7 APG and 5.7 PPG last year in JC. Not particularly good from the line or 3 point range. Not sure why he was brought in but his mix tape is impressive.

Anyone can look good on a mixtape.

Didn't play anywhere last year, had interest but no offers coming out of high school, had no offers after JC and sat out last year.

I am confused on what this staff is doing. Is it too much to ask that we out-recruit someone? Why is it in this late signing period, all we are hearing about is diamonds in the rough?

Completely agree with the bolded statement above. However, some guys look better than others on mixtape. He is the best looking pg that I've seen, that UTEP has been looking at during this late signing period. Despite the questions about this kid, he passes the eye test (maybe I need glasses). If everything checks out with this kid (grades, health, etc), I'd pull the trigger on him.

I would choose Ben Nakwaasah over De Jesus. At least Ben has a couple of offers. They're crappy offers. But at least teams are interested. I agree that De Jesus has an amazing mix tape, but 5pts and 2 assist per game shows that he needed a lot of clips to make that tape. Look how many gyms and how many different floors are in the film. He's got 1 highlight a game. A Division 1 player should pop out on film for an entire game. I don't understand how people can make an evaluation without seeing a game film.

Something is wrong at UTEP if we are giving guys visits who are 3 years removed from high school and can't get an offer. I don't get it, maybe I don't understand recruiting. Beautiful facilities, rich tradition, highest paid coach, etc...Why are we getting excited about 5pts a game 2 years ago?

I wouldn't call an almost 40 year old arena "beautiful", but if you must. Rich tradition? We haven't won an NCAA Tournament game in 23 seasons and haven't been in 5. That's the only "tradition" that matters now. What does UTEP's highest paid coach have to do with him be able to land recruits on that? It goes to show you, what an overall AWFUL job he has done here. UTEP doesn't get an TV much and their uniforms are meh. While it might be a little financially better for UTEP to host Northwestern St here at the Don, the game will never get on TV. If Floyd actually went and played big schools on the road without asking for a return game, they would be on TV more and gasp, prepare his team for Conference and Tournament play. Losing to Florida on the road is 1000x better than beating Northwestern St here at the Don. UTEP needs to ditch Nike and sign with an clothing company that will support and market UTEP. UTEP's Nike merchandise is weak and widely unavailable.

Despite all the alleged "great things" UTEP has going for them, the fact remains that better players are ending up at Louisiana Tech. Think about that for a second. LaTech - They haven't been to the NCAAs since 1991, play in a smaller dumpy arena, don't draw anything, were recently in the WAC, but yet they have experienced much more recent success than UTEP. Why? Because of the coach. Kids don't want to play for Floyd's boring defense first, boring offense style. Floyd is seen as a dirty scumbag outside of El Paso. I've been trying to tell you guys that change is needed. Now we're discussing giving a scholarship to guy that averaged 5 points per game a few seasons ago. Everything is great, huh? Hey as long as were beating Northwestern St 66-50 at the Don, why make a change?

I don't know. I have my assumptions. You're a coach, so in your honest opinion why do you think CTF and staff are looking into this kid? Something tells me that there have been issues of one sort or another. Injuries? Grades? I know the kid was fresh off the boat and knew zilch of English just a couple years ago. I don't know. What I CAN tell by the vid is that the kid can play ball. His court vision is rare. He shoots with a nice touch. He is not only quick, but fast also. The stats don't mean a whole lot at this point because we don't know the whole story. Don't get me wrong, I'm not easily wowed, but his spin move was tight and in perfect control. Like he's practiced it a thousand times. Maybe he has had an attitude problem. I doubt it but maybe. Maybe the dude ahead of him was a grade above, and just as good or better. Who knows? But that is why I specified that if his shit is together, maybe he is worth strong consideration. Obviously. They don't burn official visits on just anyone as I'm sure you are aware that they're limited. Just my two cents...

I'm fairly certain that everybody is aware of where you stand in regards to CTF. Nobody has stated their opinion as strongly, or as often as you have about the matter. Yes, you have been telling people that a change is needed. Its not from lack of being heard that you aren't converting anybody. That is for sure. There are a few that agree that change is necessary. I even happen to be one of them. But you're deluding yourself if you think you're gonna convince someone to change their stance, especially the way you go about trying to do so. Despite your intense desire for change, CTF will be here next year for sure, and probably at least a couple more on top of it. I've been straight up with you, never hurling insults your way when I disagree with something you say, but i can't help but wonder why you feel this incessant need to beat the life out of an already dead horse.
