Big Men on the way?

Norbertas Giga, a 6-10, 245 Lithuaniaian Power Forward has received an offer from UTEP. Originally committed to Florida State but ended up in the JUCO system and is playing at Midland College after a stint at Tallahassee CC. Had a run in with the law there.

Add that to Kavell Bigby-Williams and JaCardo Hawkins offers. Could we sign 2 of the 3?

Averaging 8.4 ppg and 7.4rpg at Midland College. When he first signed with FSU he was considered a project. DNQ and had to go JC route. Took someone's scooter for 2 days without permission and received 300 hours of community service for it. Not sure those stats will help us much next season but at this point we need some big men. The other two must not want to come here or else they'd stop offering.

"Like some basketball players at the junior college level, Midland College’s Norbertas “Gee” Giga has had his share of personal obstacles he’s had to overcome and has had to learn the hard way from the mistakes he’s made.


Giga, the 6-foot-10 sophomore from Lithuania, hopes he has learned from one past mistake and now hopes to help the Chaparrals enjoy a successful season. MC gets back into Western Junior College Athletic Conference play at 5:45 p.m. today when it visits rival Howard College.


Giga probably wouldn’t have been at MC if it wasn’t for the trouble he got into while he was at Tallahassee Community College in Florida over the summer.

While Giga is hesitant to talk about what happened, MC coach Jordan Dreiling said Giga took someone else’s scooter for two days at the athletic dorm without permission and was charged with vehicular grand theft, a third degree felony.

The charge was eventually reduced to a class C misdemeanor and was sentenced to 300 hours of community service....."
