Conference USA UNDERRATED!

There will be at least 3 mid majors in the final 4 this year. May be indicative that the NIL Era has actually helped the G5 conferences become more competitive.

UConn is not a mid major. Neither is Creighton. They both play in the Big East. Dan Hurley makes almost $3 Million per year. No mid major is paying that to their basketball coach.

Post season results aren’t how teams are selected and they’re not used for conference strength. The Big Ten did horrible this year, does anyone here think CUSA is better than the Big Ten? No, of course not.

St Peters made the Elite 8 last year. Do any of you know what conference they play in? Did any of you start claiming their conference was/is better than CUSA last year?

Counting FDU as a good win, is quite simply, moronic. They lost to 3 different teams going through their D1 transitions last year. UTEP would beat them most times. They suck. Except for their 1 in 1,000,000 chance against Purdue.

FDU best Purdue. They certainly don't suck.

You just like to be negative.

With SDSU’s win, you have two mid majors in the final four. Not bad for CUSA and the MWC. FAU is still representing CUSA in this tournament.

No, they suck. You seem to think that one single game defines how good a team is, but do not take into account losses. FDU beat Purdue, which is a fantastic accomplishment, but Purdue beats them 99 times out of 100.

If 50 years, FDU2Step and FDUZay will be talking about the Purdue game like Miner nerds still talk about 1966. Purdue was their 1966 National Championship. St Peters made the Elite 8 last year and are largely forgotten about. FDU won’t be anything other than a trivia answer after this tournament.

LOL Ok Stay negative.

Winning a game in the NCAA Tournament is an accomplishment.
Yes, it is, but that’s not what you said. You were listing off all of CUSA post season wins and listed all the big wins. You listed FDU as “proof” CUSA could play with “anyone”, but didn’t list UABs wins over Morehead St and Southern Miss. Both of which are better teams than FDU.

Yes, an NCAA Tournament game is a big win. Stay negative.

Coach Golding was 110% correct in his post game comments he stated often after struggling this year (I’m not giving him excuses. UTEP did underperform): “this conference is tough”.

It would be nice if the remaining C-USA teams could use this as an opportunity to build themselves up for next season. The incoming schools will be average or a little better than average. They'll hold their own in this conference. NMSU is in the toilet at the moment but should be back to above average in a few years. Short term, we may struggle. But it may be my delusion that C-USA can have another good run like this in the next five years.

God damn Moccia does it again by getting Jason Hooten.

I know what he does?! His hires land in EPIA at sunset and book it to Old Messilla wineries (the sunsets are gorgeous over the fields and town) with rich farmers and then off to Sunland Park Racetrack for evening festivities.

C-USA 17-1 in post season.
What you got to say NoWins.
CBI doesn’t count. They will take anyone and no P6 team will play in it. UTEP doesn’t even have a banner for their appearances and they made a championship game when big teams actually played in it.

CUSA is having a great postseason, probably their best since Louisville and Marquette left. However, it’s all by teams leaving. What does that do for UTEP?

What other programs did Hooten apply for?

You’re an idiot if you believe Old Mesilla and Sunland Park are convincing coaches to go to Las Cruces. It’s money and commitment to basketball. SHSU only had 1 home game with over 2,000 fans this season. They went 26-8, but yeah the winery and “casino” landed him. LMAO!!!!!!

Nothing, just referring to C-USA as a conference this year. We were still a lousy team.

It'll be a miracle if FAU wins it all. But I'll root for that miracle if it means C-USA wins the trifecta. If only C-USA can use the notoriety to recruit well these next few seasons it'll work out. But if the member schools don't step up, it'll be a waste.

I don't think it will help C-USA. All of those schools are leaving. It will help them and their new conference.

We would need more consisten deep runs for it to benefit us. We’ve gotten a reputation of upsetting a big seed the last few years. In order to get to the next level we need our representative to reach the sweet 16 and beyond more often.

That would increase our reputation and maybe help us get better seading or a possible second team in.

"For a surprise team that is virtually unknown and makes it through multiple rounds, the payout can represent a much-needed cash injection for its conference....The NCAA urges conferences to divide the money equally among their member schools. Larger conferences, which have multiple sources of income, routinely divide up most of the money and send it to their member schools’ athletics programs. Smaller conferences, however, count on that money to cover their own expenses. Only the money that’s left over goes to member schools"

Good talent - must be pretty decent talent - definitely underrated- good news for a conference that is viewed as a one bid league- props to MWC SDSU too - mid major and great tournament so far- maybe the attention will be better in for mid-majors. Golding said all year it was a tough conference- if anything hopefully the parity will help the new NCAA/ “College Business” to win, it has turned into…never thought the movie “Blue Chips” would have become the norm. Times have changed- need to adjust the sails- unfortunately UTEP doesn’t have the resources or funds to compete- the city need to do a better job of making an attractive for people to want to stay and come here, but with the current state of our country and leadership- it’s a challenge.

The way SDSU is playing I feel they have the mojo to win it. FAU is so darn streaky in this tournament they may just pull it out. They play strong but then they also fall behind and then come storming back and finish strong at the end.

FAU just doesn’t seem to get rattled. Very composed. Play much like a veteran team even though most of their production comes from sophomores, and a rs frosh.
