I was optimistic UTEP would beat La Tech and I still have a hard time believing what I’m seeing. This season is unreal.

Solid win for the Miners. At this point, Dimel “deserves” another year extension. He’s done a good job taking over a shit program and making it a lot more respectable.
Yes at this point he certainly deserves his 5th year AND whatever bonuses he deserves too.
To add to your point though there is no way he deserves an extension yet. I know there are those that might disagree, but please let's keep this in perspective in regards to our schedule and his entire body of work at UTEP. Whether it's Dimel or another coach, Senter needs to make damn sure that's he is adding to whatever success we have by season's end. Senter MUST keep the ball rolling.
No. I say that because his overall record would be a no starter for a lot of schools. Also his five year plans are too long for most p5 schools who want to win now. Only school he might fit would be Kansas. However, with the Jayhawks and everyone else desperately trying to leave the big 12, I don't think Dimel is a big enough name for Kansas.

Turn a program in 1 year is noticeable, turn a program in 4 years is often what is often expected at this level. Most programs want a change agent who will make a big turn right away, Dimel is not that kind of coach and there are few programs willing to show UTEP's patience. Now if this program takes off and makes progress in the next two years, I think bigger names will come calling. (now if I was a UTSA football fan, might be worried about losing a coach)
I don’t think we’re going to lose him to a P5 school but I’m sure there are schools in our group who wouldn’t mind paying for a coach to inherited a 0 win team and has them at 6-1 playing lights out defense within 4 years. Aside from a complete lack of style points this team is winning games in a manner never seen by a UTEP team.
I don’t know how many people watch soccer but this Dana Dimel team is just like watching a Jose Mourinho coached soccer team. Go up 1-0, park the bus and proceed to kill the game. It’s not aesthetically pleasing but wins are wins. And if he can cap off a successful season why let a good thing walk?

Exactly the same thing I said in the game thread. You’re correct, it’s not Pep ball but it wins games.
Yes, but if you don’t extend him, his recruiting efforts will be hampered because others will use the possibility of him not being here in 2023 against him. Any momentum he would have after this season would be lost.
I seriously doubt there is another school that will come after Dimel. We have a great record but remember the competition. Dimel’s offense will turn off any fan base. Ad’s have to look at what will put butts in seats, and this isn’t that.

Unless Dimel wins out and UTEP totally stiffs him, he’s not going anywhere. G5, P5, FCS, doesn’t matter.

If Dimel gets UTEP to a bowl next year too then I’ll eat crow. I am not gonna jerk him off for one season where everything is going his way, does he deserve credit? hell yeah he does, mainly for changing his defensive coordinator, but do it again next year and it’s for real…..
I am still not fully impressed with his offense at all, happy for the program yes, but do it again next year and I’ll shut the **** up. Lol
