Fire Floyd !!!

and who do you suggest replaces him......

Not sure...but it may be time to take a chance.

EDIT - In all actuality, I'd give BG a second chance. I think he'd make EP his home for as long as UTEP would have him at this point in his career. I never blamed the guy for setting his sights higher as an up-and-comer. Continued to cheer for him at aTm and UK. Think the guy has learned some life lessons the hard way and think he'd be grateful for the opportunity. Was a helluva coach when he was dialed in.

NMSU I can swallow (it's a fierce rivalry, even though Wyoming came into LC and popped them in the mouth yesterday), UT-Arlington I can swallow.

This one I can't swallow. WSU is not a bad team, but they are not a good team. This one will hurt UTEP dearly come post season. This was a loss Floyd could not have afforded. However, don't blame him for not playing Omega.

Some pre-season mags have them 12th out of 12 in the PAC 12. Maybe they will end up better than that but they aren't perceived as being good this year. The team UTEP beat with a big comeback, Colorado St, just lost to Northern Colorado. I do hope UTEP is a lot better by March because that is the only hope now. Win the conference tournament or wait until next year. Or the year after. Or whatever.

I think we should give Cantu a shot at coaching the team. Let Floyd go now and see how Cantu does the rest of the season.

NMSU is not a good team. They had to replace all of their starters from last year. Losing to NMSU is bad. I can always guage how the season will go by how we fare against NMSU. UNM always sweeps NMSU even in during their down years. I think Menzies has only beat UNM twice, but he has a winning record against Floyd. We wont be in ncaa contention until we can easily dispatch the Aggies.

If we need a replacement I say go to Lexington and bring back Tony Barbee. Tim Floyd had not brought in the level of talent that Barbee did. In the last twenty years UTEP has had three players play in the NBA. Barbee recruited all of them. He runs a clean program, plays an exciting brand of ball, brings in high level talent and wins. With the resources we give Floyd, Barbee would dominate C-USA. I dont care what he did at Auburn. There are bad fits and bad jobs and Auburn was both for Barbee. I have no doubt he would have us back in the tournament and dominating CUSA in short order. I know at least two big boosters are still in contact with Barbee and would whole heartedly support a decision to bring him back. Ive heard from a reliable source that he removed his name from contention for the Nevada job last year, because he thought there would be a chance to come back to UTEP soon. He was Nevada's top choice for the job.

You guys are nuts with this Barbee/BG talk - move on, get over "her" now (ex-girlfriend).........if we need to go with someone else, we've been able to do so effectively before and can find another different, good coach again, no need to get stuck in the past with these guys....

Maybe so. What's even more nuts is to still be content with CTF, and to think that he's going to right the ship..........eventually.

Raise your hand if you thought when Floyd was hired we'd make regular NCAA appearances and even some Sweet 16's! This Dummy did! It was a great hire at the time I admit, but it's growing old, that's why I think he should retire himself, not be fired! Just like Mike Price "Retired"

+1

It pains me to feel that CTF may not be the coach that is going to take us back to the sweet sixteen. The amount of turnover year in year out has hurt this program from growing. It kind of seems like the same will be said next year with the way things are with Omega. There just isn't any continuity with CTF players since the day he took over this program.

Yep - it was one of those "I remember where I was/what I was doing when I heard the great news " situations

There was never a BIGGER fan of Tim Floyd than me. I was thrilled he chose to come back home. The closest thing to Haskins we could get. Thought we had it all!
It just continues to be a mystery year after year. Maybe there's VOODOO goin on.
I looked forward so much to this season; I'm absolutely sick at my stomach, As Haskins used to say, "it looks like a Chinese fire drill out there" They seem to be completely discombobulated (sp). It's one disaster after another.

No no no, don't fire Floyd, he's a great coach, one of the top 10 in the country, can't you see he will take us to the Final Four this year. o_O

This should be TF's last recruiting class. This is worse than his time with the Bulls....or pretty close.
