Former UTEP center Kelvin Jones has resurfaced at Odessa Junior College after leaving Miners last month.

This is just an assumption on my part but I don't think you're ever going to know the reason KJ left. I dont think this is about playing time, though, or not being the starter. That was coming soon enough. I think KJ's father had a problem with Floyd (for various reasons). Maybe like a character or moral issue, and I don't think he'll ever air his grievances publicly. The abruptness with which the whole thing went down, what KJ had to lose, how nobody knew ANYTHING before hand. I'm not saying Floyd did anything wrong, but I do think Mr. Jones sees it differently. As abrupt as it was for us as fans, something had been brewing, and there was communication between KJ and his father and then there was that last straw (probably something small in isolation from other happenings) that broke the camel's back.

Not only is Jones on the Odessa JC team, but so is former UTEP "commit", Raliek Redd. Let's see if you all remember him.

Also, former NMSU signee, LJ Figueroa, is also on that same team. He is a 4 star guy, so he would be a guy to target.

On Jones, Odessa makes sense since it is not too far from his hometown of Hobbs. Best of luck to him.

Redd is the guy that posted he was going to UTEP but never had an offer. As far as Jones and Odessa, his family lives in Minnesota. He spent just a short time in Hobbs. My guess is Odessa recruited him out of high school.

Odessa College has one notable alumni -- Larry Johnson (of UNLV, Hornets and Knicks fame).

With Matt Wilms out I imagine Jones would have been our starter for the next month
