I'm not trying to fool anybody. We already had this duscussion already. I don't care what anybody does. @MistaBinks collects Star Wars memorabilia. Not my thing, but I certainly wouldn't mock him for it.

Kappy has always been approvable and very nice in my experience. I've crossed paths with him many times. He's definitely more approachable than Teicher in my experience. And as far as him not being knowledgeable, I'll disagree about that. He's an El Paso sports encyclopedia from what I've seen. I wasn't planning on posting on here but I've seen so many negative posts about him that I thought I would share my positive experiences.
That's the thing with opinions about other people's personalties. Everybody has different opinions. And that's ok.
I don’t mind Steve Kaplowitz. He’s at least trying to cover local sports and he’s knowledgeable with that. When it comes to national stuff I can let it slide he paints with broad strokes because he can’t know everything about everything.
Not a fan boy, Steve’s a long time friend and I’m just stating facts. He knows more about sports than your average person for sure, especially Baseball history. Some of you apparently forget or don’t know who his dad was, also he’s from New York not El Paso. It’s not just El Paso Sports that he knows.
I think everybody knows who his Dad was. That was Steve's connection to the job. I talked with Joel a few times and he was a very nice person.
The fact and not opinion is that he knows more sports history than an average person. That is not an opinion. I don’t know you and your sports knowledge, but I’d wager he would destroy you at a Sports Trivia game especially Baseball. The fact is we are fans, he researches and makes it his job to know more than the normal person. Therefore it is a Fact he knows more than an average person.

I’m not questioning that at all. I think his show is ok. I tune in every once in a while when there are interesting local topics. I think there are way worse local sports guys. Plus he had it out with Tim Floyd. So he’s ok in my book.

Kap is very personable. Being rude at a loved one is tough to take. That doesn't sound like Kappy but if it happened, then it happened. Golding has fans flumoxed and angry. Social media is blowing up with transfer news, even from smaller mid majors (i.e.-High Point) and zilch, nada, niet, leai from UTEP; however, with Walden he has postings of everything. All he leaves out is the fake turf grooming during non practice.
Pointing your verbal guns at Kap will not make Golding bring out more info. UTEP basketball appears to be piecemealing with him any info and local sports media like him and they rely on each other, so Kaps reports what he knows at broadcast time.
Put the pressure on Senter, not Kap. Golding has underperformed 4 years, keep letting him know it will not be tolerated while peer conference mates make improvements in one to two years.

This is pretty spot on and exactly 1966 took a personal attack on Kaps and people who actually know him came to his defense that’s all. Also I agree it’s very quiet around Golding and Utep Basketball, but a lot of news will be coming out shortly. When I find something out by my own digging I will always post it on this board. Sometimes it turns out to be BS and sometimes it has proved accurate. This is mainly an opinion based blog, but breaking stories about local El Paso sports mainly Utep is very appreciated! However if it’s something told to me by someone in the local media that asks me not to say anything I respect that!

Great topic with an awesome first post got completely derailed. I think OP hit the nail on the head. Senter and Golding are just operating at institutions way above their levels. Their expectations and the way they go about putting together the pieces to attempt to build a winning program are doomed to fail in this and every other age. Forgot NIL, we'd be a losing team with them in charge 20 years ago.
If I remember correctly Kappy was the sidekick to Robert. When Sportstalk first started it was Robert and Kappy correct?? And it's been Kappy ever since. One thing I've learned here is never talk about Kappys pay. 😱😱😱 If you do Kappy will send his enforcers after you. 😬😬🤐🤐🤐
I don't think he makes any bones about it. He's an ad salesman. He has to produce revenue to do the show and he does that through ad sales. Just about all tv and radio shows do that. And as any salesman knows, sales vary month after month. I had some awesome months in sales and I had others that weren't so good but that's the nature of sales.
Are you sure Robert was the sidekick?? Didn't Robert move on to TV gigs? Whatever happened to Robert where is he now?
Okay I did some research. Robert was the sidekick but it did seem that Kappy was the sidekick. It seemed Robert talked more than Kappy. I think El Paso needs another talk show separate from ESPN. Who is doing local radio for CBS?? Someone that is not owned by Utep and isn't scared to challenge Utep Officials??

This where My Minerdigs podcast/ YouTube channel idea would work. We could have whole show dedicated to how bad Senter is doing. Also we would find out why Golding doesn't follow Senter on X?? Maybe if someone told Senter that Golding isn't following him then he would be looking for a new coach??🤨🤨
Tried listening to that show. It was completely annoying. Literally he joked that they never talked sports and he was right.
