The announcers just called Dismel a great coach. Wonder what they have been smoking!
They also said that Dimel knows how to get his team to regroup after bad losses.
Going to listen to the postgame on the radio to see what the excuses are.
Dimel almost won time of possession, so close.
Total embarrassment in your home field against your top rivals. Typical Dismel coaching with no half time adjustments and no idea what it takes to win.

Totally agree that the problem is upstream from DD. However, "if" Senter is going to remain as AD, yes, make another hire. He CANNOT do any worse than Dimel. Then if the next coach sux, can him along with Jim when he gets the boot.
This game revealed all the weaknesses, liabilities, ineptitude, lack of talent, lack of desire this miner team possesses.

I wish the Miners had a minimum of the moxy & instincts Pavia had! That kid took shots and kept coming back for more delivering his own shots! Made the Miners look silly as he ran 40 yds up the sidelines for the TD.
The pissed off Miner Mom in the stands summed up my anger at the miner coach. Jerry Kill and his coaches outclassed the Miners. I'm sure the Las Crucans enjoyed a satisfying ride up I-10! I hope their contributions added to the soon to be dismissal of coach dismal.

This is how program interest dies. You put it in the hands of people who aren't interested in winning or at least improving. The long years of getting worse year by year with Floyd spiked the basketball program and kugler plus dimel have killed football. What do they have in common? Inept ADs (stull and senter) who let them stick around way too long. If we don't get rid of Senter nothing is changing.
For sure. Senter isn't going anywhere as we know, because Wilson doesn't keep him accountable. Whereas other University Presidents choose to be actively involved in the success of the athletic programs, Wilson doesn't care or have a clue. Again, the school 40 miles up the road shows it can be done. There are no excuses, only so called leaders collecting a check.
On Dimel, this year was his time to win. Next year was going to be a complete rebuild anyway with big losses due to eligibility, and a bunch of guys choosing to redshirt and transfer. I can't see Senter not making a change, but Senter's go to move is to say UTEP doesn't have the money. Again, that excuse is actually another reflection of how bad an AD Senter is. He is a failure as a fundraiser, and is responsible for the flawed decisions to extend contracts. At any other university, he would be long gone.
NMSU hired a better coach and pays him 250k a year less than we pay Dimel. Ineptitude everywhere in the athletic department. Burn it all down.
Exactly, bring Mario to UTEP, he clearly understands the big picture... I hate the typical "we are broke" mentality that is thrown around. NMSU, is in the same damn region, similar budgets, similar everything BUT success! They literally had NO conference, and now are likely going to a bowl in back to back years. Their basketball was successful for a long time as well, why not UTEP? It's simple (mentality and approach,) UTEP for whatever reason, thinks they need to hire the old washed-up coach, "so he stays." 19k folks showed up last night, what a slap in the face... I know some were NMSU fans. Hopefully one day.
Not only that, but Dismel wasn’t wanted by anyone. We hired a cold candidate with no other head coaching offers
I love UTEP’s president. New Aerospace facility and studies, research increase and opening more academic cooperation with Ciudad Juarez & Mexico. But it’s tough to defend when she appears so out of touch with the importance of having competent and competitive football (and basketball) programs.
I do not want UTEP to get into a pissing contest with NMSU. That place is an internal mess (and Moccia and their brass know it) and has been for years. UNM rivalry has gone too cold to matter after all these years. I do want her to notice that the cash cow programs need energy. Dimel is in retirement mode as the losses mount and all he can do is “Golly Gee”?! Kugler at least starting showing a red face and his neck looked like a Rand McNally map at his pressers as he almost popped an artery a couple times. I really doubt he was Golly Gee’ing at KSU in late 80’s and early 90’s as Snyder built up KSU from abysmal embarrassment. Enough Prez Wilson. Either get your hands dirty or place an assistant with day to day duties of your revenue programs! From curfew for players to putting at least a competitive team. If La Tech can do it with way less money, UTEP can.

Do not bring Moccia. Look, we’re all pissed but he is not the man. He f’ed their Covid circumstances and pissed off the governor, the internal office has alleged harassment issues, he green lighted their former bball coach bringing in questionable players, he mismanaged the unfortunate shooting at UNM and police investigation.
I want UTEP athletics to be a winning program, but not with internal hot messes with fires here and there. Football is a burning dumpster due to Dimel coaching, but there is no police or administrative investigations.
You’re gonna be in for a rude awakening when you realize not even the religious universities care about running a clean program. Give me someone that can win. We’ll deal with everything else if we ever need to cross that bridge.

Since Mario took over, their basketball program has gone to 5 NCAAT and 1 NIT. They’ve won 182 games. In that same time period we have zero NCAAT zero NIT and won 82 games. But yeah we don’t want that. It’s gonna be funny if the new NMSU coach beats the Golding boy. Their football program has won 2 bowls games. We haven’t done that since the 60’s or 50’s i don’t even know anymore. But yeah we don’t want that. Their star qb took a piss on a rivals field. Omg how embarrassing! Keep that winning mentality out of El Paso. We strive for .500 here and we do it clean!
The sad thing is, people like 2Step are out there. I listened to MinerTalk this morning and at least 2 people were defending Senter because he “hit a home run” with Bronzeing. He might (big if) turn out to be a good hire, but calling it that right now, is ridiculous.
Most schools run a clean program. Mid majors have to because they don’t have the resources to fight or defend if the ncaa comes sniffing around. UTEP is extremely aware of this due to 90’s investigations for a pair of hi-tops and a free ride for a recruit.
La Tech has a good reputation for running an efficient, competitive program.
Moccia has done great work. He belongs in LC. NM state/college politics is a different animal. El Pasoans/UTEP fans and Austin would’ve demanded he be fired if he was running UTEP athletics Texas and those events happened here. Collge fans, sports news would skewer UTEP constantly.
Senter blew it with Dimel hire from the get go. Does he appear to be over his head running a college athletic department of this size? It’s open to debate. He got bad advice and Dimel's hi energy power point presentation (his own words).
Senter and Wilson like to hide behind the academics smoke screen when convenient, but the reality is that the APR for football is one of the lowest of all schools.
Boum was in the house. He did not deserve this performance.

Boum was here in 2018 and 2019 when the teams went 2-22. He’s used to it.

What! That’s crazy! I can’t believe the genius Mario is. Instead of giving his coach a high guaranteed salary he put incentives in the contract. Wow! I wonder why we never thought of that?
