NBA 2024-25

I watched it for a few a few minutes just to see the new format but it was still as exciting as watching paint dry.

I never watched hockey as a kid but the Buzzards got me hooked on hockey. Those NHL players give 100% every game including the all star game and don’t bitch and whine about their 82 game schedule like these NBA players do. The big stars don’t sit out games to “rest” because of long grueling schedule.
Do you go to Rhino games at all? I used to see years ago that they would go a whole season with only a few losses. In 2017 they went 49-1. From what I read they changed to a higher tier and are still great, but not like they used to be.

I miss the NBA All-Star games from the 80s and early 90s. The players cared back then. Magic Johnson and Isiah Thomas used to try out do each other, the teams would play to win, and it had the feel of the ultimate pickup game. I remember one tight game where Kevin Johnson put up a last second, potential game winning shot, but Karl Malone tipped it in while it was still on the rim and was called for goal tending. It looked like it would have probably gone in anyway. Johnson was so upset that Malone touched it, the West was bummed at the loss, the East celebrated the win. These days players attack the basket un-molested, are left wide open for 3s, and it looks like a second slam dunk and second three point shooting contest. No matter what they try to do differently, it won't matter unless the players play to win.

Players have no desire to win, or reason either. They make to damn much money to care if the NBA throws money at them.
I don’t watch baseball until the World Series, but I will watch the all star game, cause they are playing to win!

I still go. I have been a season ticket holder for a long time. They are very affordable and the team is consistently competitive. Unfortunately it is nothing like those domination days like you mentioned. That era was fun to be a part of because the opponents already had the look of defeat before the opening face off. It was a cool feeling driving to every game knowing they were going to completely dominate the opponent and you weren’t going to leave disappointed.

If the Spurs hit any form of a blue chip in the next draft then they are a dynasty for at least a decade. Lakers are going to have trouble building around Luka and the Mavs are at the end of their window due to the ages of their players.
