Now i know why UTEP Football is last in recruiting

Honestly if we want to continue to play this way we should move to the triple option offense. In the offseason Kugler should go to Atlanta and visit Paul Johnson to learn the offense. Ga Tech has proven you can be very successful in fbs running the triple option.

I would prefer they switched to an option offense as well if they insist on running. At least they can run different motions to throw off the defense as opposed to defenses just flowing to Jones each and every time.

With a (somewhat) mobile QB like Leftwich, an option attack would be very intriguing.

UTEP's been there done that. His name was David Lee. Plus, most of the Texas and west coast high schools have abandoned it from what I have read.

I get that the triple option is a dying breed in terms of offenses. But at the same time this offense looks a lot more imaginitive than ours.

Right. AFA, Navy, Rice...these programs have thrived on the read option offensive system for decades. Each, sadly, has had a lot more success in winning games over that same time than has UTEP. So, why the heck not?

The option offense isn't something that you just change to from one week to the next., and boom your putting up huge numbers and winning games. Like you said, AFA, Navy, Rice have been running it for decades. They have a coaching staff who knows how to run it, and they have the right players to run it. It would be a disaster.here We don't have the right RB's to run it. Qb's too.

Apparently, we don't have the right players to run anything
Its the weakness of the type of offense Kugler runs. If you rely on 1 player for 90% of your offense, you aren't going to do much if he isn't playing in the game. Higgins has had Golden at his disposal but he doesn't design any plays to get the damn ball in his hands more often.
