Is it affecting you? I’m starting to get a bit worried.
People above 80 or with significant comorbidities are at the highest risk if they catch the virus. Try not to spread it to them.Is it affecting you? I’m starting to get a bit worried.
I’m mainly worried about contracting the virus while I’m at the store and then unknowingly spreading it to my in-laws, one of which has stage IV cancer.
My wife and I have recently decided to hunker down and have begun the “coronavirus yard beautification project” since we are not going back to school until April 6th, at the earliest. My weights and bench are getting more use than ever before. My take at the moment is I might as well take advantage of the time at home, stay busy around the yard/house, get back into decent shape, and get some shit done that I’ve been putting off.
Stay safe everybody!
Have you guys done prep shopping? If so how much do you calculate you have spent so far? I got three months of supplies for my baby. Which includes diapers, wipes, formula, baby jars, and other stuff. That alone was over half a g. I don’t even want to know how much I have spent on other shit.
EP Times just came out that 27 in EP are self quarantined after visiting China. A UTEP student had it but it was caught and during spring break.Don't let the panic consume you. Yes, it is serious but the public panic is just as bad as the virus. Do things around your house that get your mind off of things. We will get through this!
That’s where my fear is at. I go to heb and I have to wait in line to get in. Once inside everything I normally eat is gone. Whatever is left you feel compelled to buy it before someone else does. I’m also worried about work slowing down. We’ve already gone from 60+ hours a week with ot pay to less than 35. That’s a huge paycheck cut for me.To me that’s where the overreaction lies. There isn’t a food or product shortage, aside from TP and hand sanitizer. I don’t blame anyone for wanting to stock up, as it means less trips to the store, however it feels a little like arma****inggeddon when I walk into HEB. They are stocking multiple times a day and I can still get what I need, so I’m not piling up...“yet”. My grocery bills have been average up til this point. Not to say that can’t change.

In the meantime I stocked up on water and weed so I should be ok for a few weeks. Hopefully by then we start seeing the light at the end of this.

Señor Corona, I'm happy for you that you were able to stock up on bottled water. That said, and I have absolutely NO idea how old you are, remember that there's always tap water. Cities have not shut off public water.
I'm an older dude but as a kid we'd play out on the streets of El Paso, 110 degrees in the summer, and we'd drink from the nearest water hose we could find. I'm still here many years later. Tap water is not going to kill you.
We will be ok.Haha. The essentials.
I feel ya man. These are unsettling times and people are freaking out. Not sure if your grocery store is like our’s, but early in the morning is the best bet to be able to get what you need. I can’t always get what I want but I get what we need. Wow, that last statement sounds like that should be in a song or something.
Hang in there my friend. We’re gonna be ok.

Yes. Considering my line of work and the consequences of even a minor accident.40,000 people die in traffic deaths every year. Are you worried every time you drive?
Take a deep breath and calm down.

Thanks for the advice. I’m about to take a few deep breaths right now. That usually calms me right down.
Remember that traffic death statistics are an annual statistic. COVID-19 is a one-time pandemic. Yes, it will eventually be contained and defeated. But we cannot treat this like traffic stats. We must give this the individual attention it deserves.

The death rate is low but it is 20 times high than that of the flu and 14-16% of cases require hospitalization. If our society does not take precautions to slow down the spread we will not have enough hospital beds to care for people. In Italy they are actually making life and death decisions based on who has the best chance to survive. That is a pretty scary thought for those people who have elderly family members or people with underlying conditions (COPD, compromised immune systems). As it stands right now the low end death estimations are 500k world wide.
Not a localized situation, this is global. I'm positive a.b. has an answer for the 2500 deaths in Italy.
Work for a grocery warehouse, there is no food shortage if everyone would calm down.Haha. The essentials.

There’s a labor shortage and driver (big rig) problem. Stores work on a very small profit and will not hire temp for this crisis.
Give the stores a week to catch up and most items will be back in stock, unfortunately that’s not human nature.
Now our warehouse is limiting what the stores are going to get so we can spread it around the eight states we service.

In Italy and Spain, inaction, higher population density per sq mile in larger cities and mom, dad, grandma, grandpa and the kids all live under one small roof; unlike the U.S.A where retired live alone or retirement communities and people live more spread out unlike Europe. Not a localized situation, this is global. That’s bad!The Priests and Bishops are going to be sad they can't be around little boys.
