I did, between the time frames that you provided in the initial post in order to slander one side. The debt has been getting worse with each president (therefore blaming one is pointless).
Agree it's hard to know for sure where ALL the money is going or how it's being wasted, but we know there is tons of waste and corruption. Ues the debt could get worse under Trump (just like previous presidents). Do you agree that there is tons of waste and corruption and something needs to change in order to slow/salvage our national debt and trade deficits? I have yet to really hear and honest thought or answer as to why this should not be a goal for our country.
To be fair, it’s not slander to one side but rather observations of one man. The only problem I have with the GOP is no one will stand up to Donald when he’s wrong.
The national debt is just the latest ‘hot topic’ that gets the MAGA base in line and more importantly gets them to forget past failures and unkept promises. Three Card Monty. It was transgenders in sports a minute ago, abortion before that, and drag shows before that. A hot topic to keep MAGA focused on one thing.
Should reducing the national debt be a priority? Probably. It just doesn’t pass the smell test when the current president added so much (more) to it in his first term and is projected to do even more harm this term.
Slashing debt now means higher taxes and lower spending. Is now the right time to do that? Go to google and many articles say debt is fine as long as the dollar is strong and inflation is tame. Inflation is up under Donald though.
If you think long-term matters most - yes - trimming debt could head off a reckoning. If you prioritize today’s problems or doubt a crisis is imminent, maybe not. I lean toward today’s problem. Problem is - the president is today’s biggest problem,

Slandering back and forth about failures and unkept promises gets neither side anywhere. All politicians are guilty.
National debt IS a hot topic and has been a matter of concern for a long time. So is our trade deficit and many other issues. Somebody needs to do something about them. Some of us are going to suffer, but sometimes that's what it takes. We wouldn't be here if it weren't for the suffering and sacrifice of those before us.
We will have to see what happens in the next 4 weeks. I believe the stock market will be back to where it was two days ago.

Fair reply. I would like to emphasize Donald was already POTUS for four years. Every time he complains about the previous decades of Presidents - he’s talking about himself as well. As noted - the deficit ballooned under his first term. He added 7 trillion to it. So now the nation has to suffer for a problem Donald himself made worse. And most experts seem to agree he won’t be successful in lowering it.
We will see. Time will tell. We can't cut a lot of the spending, but we need to get it under control.
