OT: Ominous Vibe

Yep and this will have zero effect on popularity and purchases. Nike (currently an 88 billion dollar company) products are already overpriced even though they are made all over the world including China. People still buy their products. They don't need to raise prices.

Its just another greedy publicly traded company. If you want to make a difference then stop buying Nike.

Why is the burden on me to make a difference because our President put an unnecessary tariff on China? Everything is overpriced and every company is greedy. Why do we have to move the goalpost yet again to justify another Donald misstep?

We didn’t think they’d come for the people who help us milk cows.”...."Vermont Secretary of Agriculture Anson Tebbetts noted that while immigrants make up a small portion of the state’s population, they are essential to its $3.6 billion dairy sector, which produces 63 percent of New England’s milk. “These workers are vital,”"

‘We Voted for Trump to Fix the Border. Now We’re Milking Cows Alone at 4 A.M.’

I drove from El Paso to the New England area for kids graduation and nowhere was gas near $1.98 as Trump claims.
Circle K had their 40 cents off promotion yesterday. I stacked that with a 20 cent discount from their app. I used another app to find the cheapest Circle K near me. Unleaded was still 2.11 with all the discounts.

Speaking of corporate greed. I drove past two Circle K’s that were 90 cents more expensive per gallon than the one I was going to. That’s wild.

The burden is not on you. You either pay or you don't. You buy what you can afford or you choose to take a stand against what you can afford but don't support.

Why exactly do you think a tariff on China is a bad thing, or as you say a "mistep".

Because we pay the tariff. Thats the headline. It doesn’t matter what corporations should do. They are going to pass the cost down to us. We are not going to hurt China by buying less. They have already increased trade with Africa and Latin America. That’s not speculation. That’s were the cargo ships have rerouted.

You are civil. I am civil. Let’s break it down. What do you think the whole point is regarding Donald’s tariffs?

America is a wealthy country. We are always going to buy more than we sell. Donald slapped random tariffs on random countries. There is/was no real plan on what manufacturing or what goods to try and move domestically. There’s been no communication or strategizing with domestic leaders. Simply saying he wants iPhones made in America doesn’t cut it.

Donald’s plan to move manufacturing to America relies on tariffs to deter imports, tax cuts for the wealthy, deregulation to attract investment, and bad energy policies to lower costs. None of that appeals to me or offers hope.

Don't worry—once Tim Cook buys $300 million or so of the Felons meme coin, he'll remove the tariff.

My thoughts for what the worth. They were not random tariffs, but trying to level the playing field.
You mentioned bad energy policies, are you in that field? Oil is in everything we use, the lower the price can only be helpful.
I don’t understand your disagreement for increasing manufacturing here. That’s what made this country rich. Now we have moved away form it
Tax breaks for the rich ? That statement is debatable- however I never heard of a poor person employing others.
Will any of his policies work- time will tell.
This much we know the policies of the far left will not. History has proven that,

If the tariffs were not random, where were the short, mid, and long term plans to implement them? When did Donald have meetings with domestic partners to bring manufacturing back to America? A post on Truth Social does not cut it. A phone call ‘to encourage’ them’ is not enough either.

Has any economist or group said what Donald is doing a good idea? The best you would come up with are conservatives like Oren Cass or Jeff Ferry who are simply falling in line.

How are tariffs today going to move manufacturing back to America? No one is against moving manufacturing here. There just is not a plan to do it. Who is going to work these manufacturing jobs? How much are they going to get paid? How much is an iPhone going to cost if it’s built here? None of this has been addressed.

BTW, oil is cheap right because OPEC increased production. So much so that US Oil has shut down rigs because supply is too high. I like cheap gas too but every one US Oil job affects six to 10 other US jobs. We definitely do not want a repeat of what Donald did in 2018 and 2020.

I’m all for a real plan to Make America Great Again. We have already experienced four years of Donald. I seriously cannot believe we are back to ‘let’s see how it goes’ or ‘give the guy a chance.’ I don’t care if it’s a far left or conservative policy. Just give us a real plan. Just not Project 2025 😝
