OT: WAC may be expanding

FCS football coming. Wonder if we've played NMSU for the final time.

The WAC will probably be FBS. That’s the only reason that move would make sense for those Southland schools.

So, much to your chagrin, the UTEP-NMSU rivalry will most likely continue.

Yeah, I don't understand why SFA and SHSU, members of the Southland for over 30 years would make this move unless there is more to it than meets the eye.

1.Steve Young
2. Marshall Faulk
3. Tie Brian Urlacher, LT

If its strictly a best college career award I guess it almost has to be Ty Detmer the WAC's only Heisman winner.

Good list, but I’m still with LT — college only.

Yeah, I don’t know. The only thing I found was this speculative article. Nothing concrete. I just don’t see what SHSU or SFA would gain by making a lateral move. Why would they join a conference where they’d have to travel twice as much if it wasn’t a bump up in classification?

1. Jim McMahon... 3 time WAC offensive player of the year
2. Danny White... Yes, he played in the WAC
3. Kellen Moore... sucked in the NFL, but won a lot of games in college
4. Carlton McDonald... Never played on the NFL but was a great defender for Air Force
5. Mitch Donahue... not much of an NFL career but a great LB at Wyoming

lots of forgotten names... Dee Dowis, Chris Gizzi, Marc Wilson, Colin Kaepernick (yes, I admit he did well in college)

Ladainian Tomlinson, Marshall Faulk, Steve Young, Chad Hennings, Colt Brennan... hard to believe the WAC is now just a joke of a basketball conference
