Roll call for the New Mexico Bowl

The Lobos and UTSA played there in 2016 and had under 30,000. The place holds 39,000 and the Lobos couldn’t even sell out their own place. There’s a FVCK TON of seats available. You’re kidding yourself if you think this will be close to sellout. Lucky to get 20,000.
I don’t know. No doubt…it won’t be close to a sellout. Both times we played in the NM Bowl, the reported attendance was about 30K.

From what I remember, the crowd probably looked closer to 20K. I’d be alright with that again, though.

In the end, it doesn’t matter as long as UTEP gets close to their allotment. They’ll be paid the same regardless if anyone else buys tickets or not. Don’t believe for 1 second there’s not tons of tickets available to purchase

Interesting little fact. Fresno State sports the same 0-2 record UTEP does in this particular event.

Somebody’s gonna get their first NM Bowl win this Saturday. Go MINERS!!!

MW teams overall are 10-5 in this bowl.

Agree. I would imagine there will be over 10K seats available for this game. My guess is there will be at least 15K empty seats.

The 2019 NM Bowl had an announced attendance of 18,800 so probably actually lower. San Diego St vs Central Michigan. I would bet that due to proximity UTEP travels to that bowl better than any school from out of NM.

If anyone knows where to get merchandise for the game let me know since I will be in ABQ. I won't be able to view it in person sadly, but I will be at home with the family cheering for the Miners!

My prediction for the crowd based on it being a chilly day and minimal walk up crowd.
17,581 60% Miner Fans 25% Fresno Fans 15% locals just going to the bowl game

Fresno fans travel. Good strong loyal base.

Logic dictates that there are two factors that will most impact fan support, proximity and expected level of success. UTEP is closer. That works in UTEP's favor. However, Fresno State has had greater success against their opposition. That works in their favor.

Now, let's get real for a minute and examine that second factor. FSU has not only had greater success vs their opps, their opps have been much stronger than UTEP's. UTEP has beaten only the shittiest of the shitty whereas FSU beat UCLA, lost by 7 to #14 (at the time) Oregon, and other than a bad beat to Boise State (sound familiar?), they mostly destroyed everyone else.

Logic therefore dictates that Fresno State will wipe the field with our asses. That said, there's an old saying that goes, "That's why they play the game." Anything can happen. Maybe the stars will align tonight and we pull out a really nice win. Then again, maybe not.

Go Miners.

We had them blown away at the pep rally, but we'll see how tomorrow goes.

I agree, Jack. We have a bigger, stronger band and cheer company. I say "company" because FSU's size was more like a platoon where ours is much larger. Company or battalion size to (very) loosely use Army terms.

In addition, and I know how this will sound and make NO apologies for it: Next time someone debases El Paso ask them if they've ever been to Albuquerque. Ask them if they'v ever seen the UNM campus. **** that shit. El Paso and UTEP are so much more beautiful and advanced than Albuquerque and UNM.

With that said, I don't get why UTEP is always tossed aside whenever conference realignment and such comes around. YES, I understand that we have to get shit done on the field and court of play but goddammit, man, UTEP and El Paso have so much more to offer than UNM and Colorado State and Wyoming and ...

**** it.

This is fact.

I saw the great UNM indoor practice facility today. It's really not much. Imagine a football field in an auxiliary gym with no heat and not sealed off

Love it.

Glad to see UTEP killed it tonight.
Heaven or hell UTEP showed up.

If they want the 70’s I got a few Whip Inflation Now buttons for them
Nope dumb as$ cheap fans don't believe in inflation. Everything else in the city can go up in price from taxes, rent, taco stands, storage rooms and whatever else you can think of but not UTEP tickets. Keep them at middle school football prices.

I ate dinner on the patio of a SoTex restaurant last night wearing shorts, short sleeves and flip flops in 80 degree weather. Drove a few miles north and west today. Stopped in Roswell for the night. Brrrrr! Read that it might reach 42 or 43 degrees with a breeze during the game tomorrow.

I've attended 3 UTEP bowl games: 2000 Humanitarian, 2010 NM Bowl and 2014 NM Bowl....I'm going to sit this one out but I'll be watching on TV...I'm praying for a Miner Miracle...C'mon Miners, YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

Almost time for a shot at history. At the very minimum let's act like a team with a winning record.

JCorona you keep dishing on El Paso, but you left instead of being one to change the culture. I no one person can’t do it, but a thousands of “one” can.
I don’t blame you for leaving, but stop the hating on your home town,

Sorry man but we came from nothing and I saw my dad work his way up. A no bs hardworking man that took him decades to finally make a good wage in EP. Unfortunately for him, I discovered that if I left EP I could make more money than him. I finally made him see the light too. He took up a job in Austin doing the same thing he did and he will now make close to a doctor's salary. Almost double what he made in EP. Something unimaginable in EP for people like my family that skipped college and instead worked their ass off. The few things that made EP attractive aren't there anymore either. There's no more cheap food, stuff or housing. I was shocked last month to find out that most restaurants are charging Austin prices, that taxes are more in EP than in Travis county. It's a rip off for the quality of life the city offers. The last straw for me was knowing the arena that we voted on would never be built. Got tired of the same Ole shit and the never get done shit mentality.

Taxes- required
Rent - required
Taco stands - food
Storage rooms - might be important

This isn’t the El Paso taxes, rent, tacos, and storage facilities message board. Go find one person who is happy that those are more expensive. All of those things are more important than UTEP athletics tickets.

Apples to hammers again.

His only “change” is trying to tell us we should be thankful that UTEP tickets and parking are cheaper than his professional soccer team playing in a year old stadium. Who would have thought a 2nd rate athletics program would have cheaper tickets than a professional team?

You get what you pay for. You want cheap tickets don't be surprised when you get a cheap product in return.

Cheap as FCS football. No wonder the team struggled against the last four FCS teams we played.
