Football : New Mexico??
Schedule UNM every year or should Utep replace it with a money game??

Basketball : UTEP will have to find two new opponents?? I say GCU and UTSA.

I'd like for us to start scheduling UNM every year for football, and a home and home each season in basketball. Question is whether UNM would be on board with it. No reason why we can't schedule within Texas as well with UTSA, Rice, and North Texas, along with Houston and Texas Tech.

Not happening. We don’t do that now and it’s not like it’s not possible. That would be 2 football and 4 basketball games UNM would have every year. Limits them a lot.

Best we can hope for is, every few years in football and 1 game a year in basketball. UTEP should play as many Power teams as possible. UTEP gains nothing from replacing the 2 basketball games with SWAC and Southland trash.

UNM would be cool, as would TECH or U of A. No to UTSA in basketball don't want to watch US play in High School Gyms. Really love to get UNM to commit to 6 year schedule both football and basketball.

West is best...I'm done with these Texas teams and if our aspirations are the MWC we need to play them as much as we can. Basketball wise it's a no brainer western schools for the most part play in larger venues to larger crowds.

The 2023 fb schedule will be the first with the new version of cusa. If it stays at 9 teams we will have 2 games vs transitioning fcs to fbs schools. At that point they will count as fbs games but will not be bowl eligible according to current rules. But UTEP also has UIW as the home opener and I think they should cancel or move that game to a later year. The rest of the non conference schedule looks good that year, at Arizona and UNLV in EP.

If the changes happen fast wont Utep need to replace NMSU next season?? or when do the changes happen?
Its weird after 2025 UTEP and NMSU dont schedule each other. Its like they knew they would be in the same conference.
