That Floyd loses a game (yes they should have never lost) and there is everyone in the world complaining about it 20 seconds after the game, but when he wins not a soul on here? Yes I know they should have won last night but it doesn't mean we can't talk about the game!!

I really thought that team played hard last night, they did have a few mental lapses but for the most part they played hard..... I think jones is gonna be a good player when he packs on some muscle!

*Vint looked really good offensively under the hoop against the Freshman 7 footer.
*Moore had two outstanding assists.
*Buddha came to life on the defensive end and had a nice block, altered a shot or two, caused a steal, and fought for a couple rebounds.
*Omega lit it up early.
*Thomas had a nice strong drive from the top of the key, with a nice finish.
*Touchet managed the game well, and was smart with the ball. Played good defense as well.

There were more positives, but those stand out to me.

Valid point. A win is win and you take the positives from it. I didn't know UTEP offered that Jeantal Cylla FAU player?! Boy, he would have made a nice addition.

FAU five minute run to start in the second half was another battle memory starting to rear its ugly head again but UTEP came back and kept the spread far apart for good. FAU 3 pointers prevented the score from getting really ugly. FAU is not a good team but they keep TO's low and UTEP made them make dumb mistakes. Vint is showing some leadership as season wears on but on the same note, Morris is disappearing like a high school wall flower. Dude, this is your senior season?! Light that sh&t up!! You're better than 8 points. Everybody got to see some action, even from the beginning. Jones had some great stops. He reminds so much of Antonio Davis: Skinny, body night quite ready for major basketball at his young age but can be a UTEP legend by senior season.

Glad they improvrd, FIU will be a stiffer test, let's string some wins together and people will talk about it.

Their freshman starting PG Nick Rutherford was also offered by UTEP.

Morris is getting fewer minutes. I think he contributes on both ends when he's in there and should get more minutes.

I thought Morris was the only Miner who forced his play last night, particularly late in the game. Seemed to me like he was trying to get his double figures and got away from the offense. Morris either seems to be "on" or way "off". Much better play offensively by the team, smarter. Let's see if it carries on.

Impressed with Vint, he has made so much improvement since the year began. His moves around the basket take time to develop, but when he gets position he is deadly. His passing is getting better as well. Agree on Morris, forces a lot of action and this gets him into trouble as teams aren't bitting on his hesitation/step back moves like last year.

I agree with you Purple, we should be talking about their wins as well! I think many posters on this board are more outspoken after a loss and want to vent and suggest things that should be done to fix the team. Unfortunately that's the way it is.

do you think vint is really better this year than last or do you think he didnt get a chance to shine with hunter and lang and all the other guys ?

Even though the question wasn't posed to me, I'm gonna chime in with my opinion. Vint is better this year. He's a little stronger, a little more refined, he's more mature in general, and he's more experienced. Being that he is THE big, he's had no choice but to adapt and rise to the occasion as best he can. Could he have done it last year provided Lang and Hunter weren't there? Yes, but to a lesser degree. His post up game from previous seasons was no where near what it is this year. He used to just hang out on the perimeter even though he is almost 7 feet. If he could have played last year like he has at times this year, then he was misused. Just my two cents.

Vint's low post moves have certainly improved immensely. Somebody's been working with him. He's added solid spin moves, a drop step, and various ball fakes. He's also improved his strength, which has boosted his confidence at being more aggressive on the boards.

I think Vint has always had a good shot, but in years past he never could get position and get his shot off. This year his footwork has seen a huge improvement, he goes left or right and has a nice soft touch. I think we have forgotten he can hit a three out front as well. I think we will see some game this year where he pulls the defense out with an outside shot and gives our guards a chance to drive. It only takes one or two threes out front by your center to change the game and sooner or later we my see this in a game. He has really improved, no doubt to coaching and likely hard work. His big drawback is he doesn't run the court well and is not much of a board presence (but this is improving in his game as well) Last night he made a few good rebounds and made really nice outlet passes to get our break going. I think everybody here agrees that we are not a very good pattern team, but we could be quite potent in the open court if we can rebound and run.
