I don’t think it’s a big deal. Just a way to stroke the big donors egos. This all seems weird to me. Is this normal? Do other schools do this?
Yes and no. One thing Mike Price stated was that you build your program by having an open door to the alumni players. OU was really big on this for years as was Texas. Now, they are so competitive they have closed Spring Scrimmages. Washington coach went public saying open spring games are important. This all seems weird to me. Is this normal? As if Wilson gives any care about athletics. Give me a break.Yes and no. One thing Mike Price stated was that you build your program by having an open door to the alumni players. Walden is open to alumni and I'm glad to see Wilson being active.
They are donors, I like what UTEP is doing here...Does anybody know who these people are?

One of them is the university president. The others are big time donors.Nope. But that’s the Miner way!

His family is rich.Who is Trey Cardwell? How did he get rich? I couldn't find anything about him online.

Actually I think she does a bit, but maybe is understanding that more resources are better spent in football than basketball. Utep prides itself as a basketball school, because of Don Haskins, but we haven’t been for over 30 years! Football has been awful, but if it’s good it is the real money maker and what’s needed to have successful athletics and have opportunities like MWC and beyond. Walden has done an amazing job of recruiting and fund raising. Wilson probably knows that this is way to go and is like whatever about Golding and Basketball and letting him just finish out his contract. As if Wilson gives any care about athletics. Give me a break.
I believe the young guy is a politician. I could be wrong though, the others are donors and have done a good amount for UTEP.Young guy too?
I thought I read he was practicing with the 3rd string team. Not saying, that is why got those 2 picks, but maybe lol... I really hope he lives up to the expectation, or at least gives, Scotty a decent chance to build him up. Would suck to see him leave after spring...Supposedly there was a scrimmage and Malachi had 2 ints..😵💫😵💫😵💫

I guess we’ll see. If true, only because her had has been forced.Actually I think she does a bit, but maybe is understanding that more resources are better spent in football than basketball.
