Any truth to this? I have watched the Volunteers in a few games this season Their QB play has been atrocious. How does anyone become a candidate BEFORE we even have a new AD announced. Maybe we have the AD hired already and they are waiting until the end of football season to announce.Thats my bet.

No AD yet so no real candidates yet. This is just somebody's opinion I assume.

Apparently Mike Canales has 7 years of softball coaching experience. Sounds like a dream come true. He can coach 2 sports under 1 salary. He also goes by the nickname Chico.

On a real note, he has conference usa experience and ties to texas and arizona area. The next coach I hope can pull ties from Arizona as I feel Arizona is alot closer then most Texas cities. We should be utilizing AZ a lot more. We are not ever going to outrecruit anyone in Texas. We need a team of players willing to take a chance but they need to expand the recruiting trail. We are getting last pickins at every athlete we bring in.

Speaking of Arizona, there are 2 co-offensive coordinators at UA that could be interesting targets for UTEP. One of them as head coach and Theron Aych, their WR coach and our former WR coach, as the OC. Possibility. Arizona is running a very good power spread and Aych has lots of recruiting experience in the Houston area as well as an outstanding Div ll OC at Angelo St before coming to UTEP.
