Wow. Sumlin out? Rumors are Kyle Allen to Houston. Also, rumors (have been going on for weeks) from UT boosters to media is that they want to oust Strong and bring in Tom Herman; which some say he would come to UT in a heart beat and some say that's not true. I guess that Herman guy is the greatest thing since Dr. Pepper came out of Waco.

Texas football head coaching beauty pageants are the most stupidest events in the America but yet so damn entertaining because they get all the Texas rich oil, medical, real estate, whatever money men all riled up like school children on the inside but yet they try to stay poker faced about the whole event.

Strong isnt going anywhere. He still has the big boosters backing. They are installing a Baylor like offense. They will be fine. Wouldnt make sense anyway for them to replace Strong with Herman. They basically have the same resume, coordinators for Urban Meyer, head coaches at g5 schools taking schools to a new years six bowl. If Strong doesnt cut it you can bank on john Harbaugh being the next coach.

A&M is the most baffling school in the country. They have by far the nicest facilities in the state and Kyle field is the nicest stadium in the country. I saw a game from a suite at Kyle Field this year and I couldn't get over how nice it is. Their problem is that their boosters meddle more than any boosters in America. All boosters meddle but Aggies take it to a new level. Sumlin was a bad choice, he inherrited Keenum at UH and Manziel at A&M. He has never developed his own qb. Chad Morris is an alumn and most think he will be the next coach. They need an Aggie to coach the team. Only an Aggie can truely understand the crazieness, traditions, and power structure at A&M.

I would stick with Strong.

Not just boosters meddle, but politicians as well according to gag forum sites. Academics, athletics, you name it. But hey, it's the Aggies, I love every minute of it.

Totally agree 100% on Strong.

TAMU is another thought. Hard to imagine all of that "lack of direction on offense" talk coming out of that program. I wouldn't say Sumlin was a bad choice, but he needs to make some staff changes on offense. When you have that many QBs leaving (like another school with a lot of players quitting), there needs to be a look at yourself, then your staff. Sumlin's overdue for that as well.

Ask around, that alumni thing rarely works out. How many successful college head coaches can you name who are alumni of their universities? I'll get you started on a very short list - Northwestern.

Sumlin is in deep fertilizer. He makes $5 million per year and the next championship he wins will be his first. That's first. ever. conference. championship. AnM has invested bazillions in an arms race against Texas and the SEC, their facilities are second to nobody on planet earth. They have alienated many friends and alumni in the process. They play a pathetic OOC schedule to pad their schedule, then crap the bed in conference. They can't score on a prostitute right now, but Sumlin's real problem has always been he can't play defense against anybody with an SEC patch on their shirt, despite paying a fortune for LSU's DC. New coach, lots of dough, same results.

Compounding the problem, Aggies see Tom Herman down the road at Houston playing (and favored) against Florida State in this year's Peach Bowl. They money-whipped one coach from Houston, who knows.

Tough times in Aggieville. What a shame...

I've read there are some very unhappy boosters. TAMU has some big time boosters in El Paso, wonder how they feel?

Not an ANM insider, but the unhappiness in Collie Station extends far beyond Ws and Ls, an overcompensated coach, and a woefully underachieving program. For example, the 12th Man Foundation has been sued big time for heavy-handed tactics in attaching exorbitant license/donation amounts to seat assignments in their new palace, booting hundreds/thousands of long-time season ticket holders to less desirable locations (e.g. end zones). Imagine, in many cases, these have been the very friends and alumni who stood with AnM long before they were winning championships. Oh, wait, they're not winning championships. Those "good Ags" are going to lose what's left of their collective minds when they meet Louisville in Nashville.

In sum, if you really want to know the price for big time college athletics, AnM would be your business model...

This all is nothing new in Aggie land they have been in one controversy after another since the 70's and they have squandered so much of the talent that this state has offered them. They have never really emerged on the national stage like USC, Ohio State or Alabama but have shot themselves in the foot almost everytime.
