They purposely schedule this game early to not give teams time to rest after the liberty game. It definitely is a trap game but I expect the team to be prepared.

Feels like a tough defensive battle with both teams in the 60's.

It’s probably for logistical reasons. Last year UTEP played at FIU at 6pm local time.
These dudes are young fit athletes. You make it seem like it’s an age 50 years and older rec league tournament.
I’m just passing on what was said on the CUSA board. Im sure the guys will be fine but any extra rest does help.
The FIU crowd seemed a fair bit bigger for the NMSU game. I don't think these early games are good for bringing out the home crowd.

Easy solution would be to return to the old days without a 3-point line. However, that would most likely diminish fan interest as well.
Only count them the last 4 minutes of the half or something.
I especially hate shooting 3s on a fast break or taking an exceptionally long one with many seconds left on the shot clock.
They made a bunch of shots, but defensively they were just ok in my opinion. Hopefully, our shooting continues in the second half.
FIU's style of play has something to do with it. Remember what happened at FIU last season. UTEP can't get complacent against this team.

I never saw any conclusive evidence that the ball touched that rim. I don't know what they saw.

I wouldn't say that. They made some big shots down the stretch, including making freethrows. Good win on the road.
It was a good game, although it's frustrating how this team can't just put a team away when they are clearly playing better than the other team, mainly due to Boneheaded mistakes by one player or another.

Unlike last season, they held off the flurry, made their free throws, and put it away. FIU makes you work for everything. They gave NMSU all they could handle last game, too. It was a definite trap game but UTEP did the job. I'm very happy with the road win on short rest. This game was two time zones away; it's a long trip. Getting the sweep is a big deal.
Exactly. Unlike last year, they didn't choke it away. Any win on the road is a positive.
Easy conference road wins are difficult to come by. Just happy we escaped this road trip 2-0
